Crucial got so bad?
Many review and benchmark show Intel ssd v slow compared to others. I bought both Intel and Samsung Pro.. and cannot tell any difference in speed.

Day 2 day computing hard to tell the difference. But based on 256GB range, samsung has better seq write speed than crucial.

If its 256gb, why dun consider locally? USD is rising, Lazada has 10% off with mastercard on Mon. Local prices are quite attractive, along with local warranty.

just asking those who bought new SSD, what did you do with the old SSD?

using vertex 4 256gb and bought one 730 480gb, with the current Amazon pricing of 240/256gb i guess no point selling it. if sell likely not going to fetch good price.

my mobo has only one sata3 connector btw.

Need Help In Installing SSD Hardrive

I have a 4 year old Dell Studio XPS 8100 and would like to install a Samsung EVO 840 SSD in my pc. I understan that in order to fully utilize the speed of the SSD one has to set to AHCI in the bios. The problem is when I go to the bios setup I can only see ATA and RAID but not the AHCI. Does this mean that my pc does not support AHCI? Any advise will be appreciated.

Hi, I do have a Samsung 840 Evo (500gb) and Samsung 840 Pro (500gb) installed on 2 different machines for OS. However, I noticed both of them will randomly have high pitched squeaks when in usage.

Is there any problems with the units? Or is it normal? Please advise~ Thanks!

Searching for AHCI

seems like XPS 8100 have SATA 2 only but still can upgrade to SSD, just that can't take advantage of the SATA 3 (6Gbps) speed.

weird... there no moving parts in SSD. Did you open up your casing/enclosure and have a good hearing where the actual sound might come from?

I use 840 Pro but never heard of any high pitching squeaks.

High pitch squeaks sounds like a HDD or a DVD drive in trouble rather than an SSD. Same concept as you dun hear a thumbdrive produce high pitch squeaks rite?

Try troubleshooting again and isolate source of the squeaking.
