Then how can you mention to me that "'Sorry for any inconvenience. Tried it on my two testing set, I update 1.1.4 and 1.1.2 to 1.1.6 and found it to be working. Sorry to say that you can only do online update for your Tab, other solution that you can try is to adjust the sleep time to 30 minutes under the display setting. Hope you can try it again. ""

And now you are saying that you found some glitch, it had happen since 27/7/12 after the 1.1.6 firmware is out ... just that not every responded whether this firmware upgrade is successful or fail. It make me re-try till I am wondering is my tab7 corrupted or what ! freaking piss off with such Firmware QC check by ACR once again...

I shall try it tonight again...

This is what happens when a manufacturer is too lazy to code a firmware update tool for Windows. Even 山寨 tablet makers have their own updater :D

We do have a recovery tool for Windows platform right off from the chipset manufacturer. However this tool is usually used for recovery at our side should our customers' tablet is malfunctioning or if the system couldn't boot anymore.

The firmware for this tool is different from what we provided for online update, the file size is much larger as it contains the entire system (which is pretty much like re-installing the entire system, preloaded apps, etc back to factory defaults) instead of just the partial updates provided via online update.

To be frank, this tool and it's upgrading process isn't that straight forward and
requires numerous steps to proceed, so it doesn't makes much sense for us to release this tool and firmware to our customers.

And that's also the main reason why we coded our own online upgrade function in the Tab 7 for our customers' convenience. Hope this explains. ;)

Bro, sorry that you are unable to update the firmware as it should but I assure you that the firmware is being tested again and again on numerous units at our side before releasing. And we tried on all versions that we've released so far (this includes 1.0 / 1.0.1 / 1.1.2 / 1.1.3 / 1.1.4) but we didn't noticed any problems with the updating on our side.

The glitch that my colleague mentioned about actually came from me, because I noticed the "new version" line in my script is written as 1.1.4 instead of 1.1.6, but nevertheless it didn't affect the updating on our end before we release the firmware, but this was still renamed correctly and thus requesting you to give it a go again.

If you still couldn't update the firmware via online (still cracking my brain to think of a reason why...), you can still do it manually via Settings > Backup & reset

Here are the steps to follow
1. Launch the browser on your Tab 7 and at the address bar key in this URL, www.acryan.com/downloads/VT97100/Version1.1.6.zip
The firmware update file will be downloaded to your internal NAND memory's Download folder.
[Alternatively you can also download this from your PC and then copy it over to the internal NAND memory]
2. Go to Settings > Backup & reset > Recovery Mode (under SYSTEM UPGRADE)
3. After the Tab 7 is rebooted in recovery mode, press the "Vol -" button to select "apply update from external storage", then the return button and then go to the Download folder (or to the folder name which you have copied the firmware to), select Version1.1.6.zip and then press the return button again
4. The installation will start and after it is completed, select "reboot system now", then press the return button to reboot the Tab 7

Sorry for any inconvenience caused but while we look into why the firmware couldn't be upgraded online, you may want to follow the above steps to manually install it first? :o

Appropriated your prompt revert with an manual solution, however on your last points which was bold, as ACR is still looking into why firmware unable to upgrade via online toolkit, but from your earlier revert below ..was

We did found some minor glitch after few of you reported that you're experiencing issue using the online upgrade for Tab7 firmware 1.1.6. Please try it again as we did made some changes, it should work fine now.

It's making consumer confuse on which to execute ? re-try ACR online toolkit or perform the long long manual upgrade steps.

ACR, hope you guys could resolve this update issue via online.. and inform us once completely resolve.

I will try it in later, and revert on my finding... hope it work via online, as the manual upgrade steps is too long.

May I know, will I be forever in manual upgrade status ? Since the online update tool fail on me ? Or ACR is going to improve and rectify the issue ? I hope the next firmware ACR release, i wun face into such troublesome issue...

Last but not least, i really appreciate your immediate manual solution ! indeed is a great alternative solution beside online upgrade tool. THANKS! :s12:

We are checking if the web browser is laggy in the latest version as what was reported. Are you able to provide us with any websites that you've visited in the previous firmware version that is smoother than the current latest one, so that we can look into it? Are these sites you visit heavy on Flash?

Glad to hear you finally managed to update to the latest version. I am making a bold assumption that your onlineupdate application (the Update app you see in the app drawer) may have gone corrupted for some reasons during the last attempt to update. This is not common and is not known to corrupt as of now but if you still have problems updating in the next round, please write a support email to techsupport@acryan.com and I'll ask our product specialists to send you this application to overwrite the current one in your system.

But of course, since now you already have installed version 1.1.6, this package comes also with a new onlineupdate application in the installation, so I can say your problem probably won't surface again in the next round.

Once again, sorry for all the troubles in getting the update. =:p

ok so if we download those media player got say which version got what codec, we will stick to v7?

Yes, stick to v7 codec if you need to install per the media player application. But usually 3rd party players may not necessarily take advantage of the hardware acceleration of the graphics processor (Mali400 in our case) but it may prove superior in other areas than our stock player. You be the judge in this case. ;)

Nope they are non-flash websites, stuff even like yahoo and as someone mentioned facebook are super laggy. It will try to open the page and hang there without any indication. And of course it gets worse when you open more than 3 tabs.

Previously when upgrading to X.14 version from X.12 using the online update, I had some issues too, where during installation I would be prompted that the response is taking too long and if I would like to stop it. In the end, the installation process went smoothly after I killed all the existing apps, and also I had to keep touching the screen once in a while to make sure that it doesn't go into lock mode.

We did a check on version 1.1.6 and verified that this version has no genuine problems to cause lag in the Android system, after running loading/unloading tests on it.

We would like to know if you may have quite a number of apps running in the background coupled with memory hogging widgets and/or Live Wallpaper?

Basically in 1.1.6 version we have added in Google Maps, together with the supporting apps like Latitude and such, and they are needed to run in the background when the system boot up. But these do not take up excessive memory to lag the Android system, but of course it would also be an add-on factor to cause more lag on an already lagging system.

You can also try installing this free app from the Play Store call "Quick System Info Pro", where you will be able to see the load on your processor and memory loading, as well as it provides a static widget to quickly release memory and cache.

Users reporting lag in the system may want to try out the above app and let us know if the CPU and/or Memory usage are always on all time high levels during normal usage?
