best tablet for senior citizen on a budget?

Any one can recommend a good simple and easy to use tablet for my mother who isn't tech savvy at all. Primarily used to watch videos, streaming media, IM and surf the net? Best if its not to expensive?

Size? Budget?
You're talking about surfing, so you want 3G tablets or wifi-only with tethering?

3G = more moola involved. >$500 (e.g. Acer A101, Samsung G.Tab 7")
Bigger size (10inch-ers) + 3G = much more moola involved.
10" + 3G + not so old hardware (tegra 2) + not so old OS (Honeycomb) = lotsa moola involved.
10" + 3G + latest HW + latest OS (ICS) = Sorry bro. Wait for a while more.

I feel that the 7" is the optimal size for portability.

'I think 10inch screen is ideal as she will use it at home. Forgot to add 3g is essential as that's the only way she can get internet access. Thought of ipad, but needs to be synced with a computer which she does not know how to use.

oh... probably ur term of tech-savvy is kinda different from mine. if she don't knows how to use a pc, an android, no matter how cheap will not serve any meaning cos it's worst than a pc . btw, what she need to sync, other than surf net, youtube and streaming video?

i still think an ipad is better choice here, simpler... just touch and go, no need special settings.

Yeah, ipad should be the choice. Now no need to connect to pc to activate liao.
