A decent set of tablets announced by Lenovo. Looks like they've moved from MTK chips to Qualcomm chips for this generation, and will be the value-for-money tablets to beat this year.

Tab 4 8" and 10"

The regular Tab 4 is the lower end of the series with 1280 x 800 displays, a Snapdragon 425 processor, and a design that relies on plastic. Here are the important specs for both the 8" and 10" versions:

  • Qualcomm Snapdragon 425 with Adreno 308 GPU
  • 2GB RAM, 16GB storage, MicroSD
  • 5MP AF back camera, 2MP fixed focus front camera
  • 4850mAh battery (8") or 7000mAh (10")
  • 8" 1280 x 800 IPS display, or 10.1" 1280 x 800 IPS display
  • 211 x 124 x 8.2mm, 310g (8") or 247 x 170 x 8.4mm, 505g (10")
  • GPS, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0, LTE version available

Tab 4 Plus 8" and 10"

The Plus tablets look very similar to the non Plus, but you can differentiate them by the separated camera/flash on the back (the regular Tab 4 has these two grouped together). They also offer full HD displays, a more powerful Snapdragon 625 processor, better cameras, RAM, and storage options. The design is dual-glass with panels on both the front and the back, and they're overall thinner and lighter than the non Plus versions.

  1. Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 with Adreno 506 GPU
  2. 3-4GB RAM, 16-64GB storage, MicroSD
  3. 8MP AF back camera, 5MP fixed focus front camera
  4. 4850mAh battery (8") or 7000mAh (10") with QC 3.0 support
  5. 8" 1920 x 1200 IPS display, or 10.1" 1920 x 1200 IPS display
  6. 210.6 x 123 x 7mm, 300g (8") or 247 x 173 x 7.1mm, 475 g (10")
  7. GPS, WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2, LTE version available

They will be available globally in May in either Aurora Black or Sparkling White and will cost €169 for the 8" and €179 for the 10".

Was at lenovo store Marina square branch.

Tab 3 - 8 inch sold out
Tab 3 - 10inch aka business, mysteriously price not on sg lenovo website nor seen anywhere in sg. Pricing online is close to $400. 2/32GB for a "business" tablet is ridiculous.

Tab 3 - 7 inch - now selling at $129 or $139 cannot remember. Lags alot when streaming korean drama or movies online. The only good thing is the sound. Very loud.

Marina Square has newstead and gaincity. I tried Tab3 7.0 against asus zenpad and huawei t2. It has the loudest sound. Video quality is not bad but just too small and lag.

As for T4 series, leaked info say starting price starts eur109. And that is for the crappiest of the T4 lot. By the time come to singapore i would imagine chow chow retail S$250. Would still be considered cheap considering with local warranty.

For Lenovo 10 inch series, very little improvement from tab 3 to tab 4.
Only notable "difference" is ram up from 1gb to 2gb. But the clockspeed only up from 1.3ghz to 1.4ghz.

Doesnt seem to have plus version available.
No LTE or cellular version even though stated on gsmarena.
The only good is the dual stereo.

Amazon pricing at usd179.99, might as well get a acer b3-a40 at usd129.99
Wont consider this tab 4 unless it is within sgd250 range.

Then again Acer tablets biggest crap is that the headphone jack is only few mm from the micro-usb slot. Which means you cant plug in headphone or external mic/speaker at the same time with a micro-usb stick. Super crap acer tablets.

lenovo tab in general

bought a lenovo tab sometime back this year
it was a model from last year if i remember right
got it as a gift for someone with eye issues
the screen is good, matte and not too bright, large screen. (compared to samsung, apple, etc.. the screen is really much more comfortable)
but i would recommend really going with something higher ram than 2gb which was what i got
don't remember the exact model name though.. hope this helps
