Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 slates official thread...

I'm looking forward for this tablet...its been rumored to be due for release tmr (20 Jul 15)...but so far no sound no picture of any kind from Samsung. So anyone happen to see this "new" model tmr at any stores...do sound out here.

If the price is attractive...I bet it should be priced cheaper than iPad Air 2 in order to compete Apple.

Meanwhile here's some info curated from the WWW.

"Samsung tablets are rumored to boast a Super AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels and 4:3 aspect ratio based on the latest leak. The tablets are also believed to house an Exynos 5433 processor, which is clocked at 1.9GHz and 3GB of RAM. The LTE-enabled tablets will also tout an 8MP primary camera and come pre-loaded with Android 5.0 Lollipop."

"Both Galaxy Tab S2 models will have a fingerprint scanner , and a way to run two apps on the screen at the same time."

"Galaxy Tab S2 tablets have been touted as the thinnest ever tablets, and they are also sleeker than Apple's iPad Air. Previous leaks have pointed to the bigger Samsung Galaxy Tab S2 sporting dimensions of 9.3 x 6.7 x 0.22 inch vis-à-vis the iPad Air's 9.4 x 6.6 x 0.29 inch."

Looking forward to this. Currently have the Tab 7.7 and as much I love it, it's getting a bit old now and due replacing. Was tempted to get the S 8.4 but decided to hold out for the S2.

Yet to be convinced of the 4:3 aspect ratio, prefer 3:2, but will give it a chance.

Any chance of these coming with S-Pen support?

If it's a Tab series.. Then no S-pen support. Just tablet and Tab 'S' denotes Super Amoled.

Oh, that's a shame. Not a must have for me but nice to have for editing diagrams and annotating Google Maps screenshots etc. Note series phones use the same screen tech so it must be technically possible. Guess they want to distinguish the other tablets.

I agreed with you in this... Its not something of a revolution... The recent marketing tactics employed by samsung sees a cut back on marketing effort for the Tab series... Which is a clever way to cut cost since there ain't much new feature which can be called a game changer... Its merely size and hardware upgrades or sometimes downgrades as in the case of Tab A with s-pen.

I think it has been confirmed that it will hit the street in Aug... But in Singapore, it may be earlier based on past record... So it's highly possible to see the new tablet here earlier.

From Android Central: Samsung's Galaxy Tab S2 launching in August in 8-inch and 9.7-inch versions http://google.com/newsstand/s/CBIw0b_ynCI

Nice to hear something official at last. 5.6mm thin is impressive but unfortunatley 4,000mAh for the 8" version!!! I mean really? It's barely larger than my G2. If LG can fit 3,000mAh in 5.2" phone and Samsung themselves can fit 3,300mAh in the Note 4, surely an 8" tablet could fit at least 5,000mAh. Even my Tab 7.7 from 2011 has 5100mAh albeit with different battery tech.

What's this obsession about making it thin. Personally, I find anything under 9mm fine.

Guess we'll have to wait for reviews for battery life.

Oh, also comes with Exynos 5433 not the latest Exynos 7420. So less power efficient and doesn't come with the memory and storage enhancements.

Shame...

Both 8" and 9.7" tablets are registered with IDA.

A LCD-based Tab Pro 8.4" (Tab S's brother if anyone fondly remember)' user here waited a year to upgrade to AMOLED-based Tab S2.

Regret to say other than the metal frame and thinner frame the rest are rubbish. Downgrade from Tab S in display PPI, 4:3 ratio, thicker side bezel on all sides, no camera flash (LOL?), 4000 mAh battery from 4900 (WTF?). Tab Pro/Tab S's width (@ 125.6mm) is already a threshold for many people to carry on one single hand. The 4:3 ratio made it even fatter to be uncomfortable for anyone to hold it for calls. Seriously gonna skip this and maybe even just change to Tab S 1 and live with it until Samsung wake up their mind.

Basically Samsung is really moving backwards and eating their own words.

They first claimed they will cut down their production and streamline their designs.

Look what happens now?? Barely half a year after launching Galaxy Tab A, they now launched a 'Tab E' of 9.6" Wifi. WTH? Totally left-hand shooting right foot.

With this Tab S2 coming out their own products are just gonna overlap more and more.
