Windows surface pro is one of the best, note 10.1 2014 not really advisable as quite a number of bugs.. Can see from tablet den.. In my opinion surface pro has everything u need, stylus, typing, full windows 8..

For price and convenience, try the ASUS T100T - full Windows 8, 10.1 inches, transformer-type hybrid means you can a touch screen and keyboard. 64GB SSD, so should be snappy. Only $599... but not sure if stock is available.

Im also looking for a cheap tablet hybrid or ultrabook for school. I definitely need a windows 8 as I got to do microsoft word and ppt. Any recommendations?

Looking a portability, battery life as well as decent (not much of a gamer) performance.

Sorry TS for hijacking.

Can just hoot windows surface RT? Not bad if you're just using it on pure sch work. Battery life also not bad.

Don't waste your time with the rt.. U can get better gadgets with it... Rt is too limited in my opinion.. I got myself a rt initially telling myself, meh is ok, I can live without full windows.. After one day I sold and got myself the surface pro.. Now waiting for version 2.. If budget constraint get the first edition, only flaw low battery life.. But still can last a 5-6 hours.. Pro 2 has all of pro 1 awesome features and improved by having a longer battery life..

RT is a tablet after all. So definitely not on par with ultrabooks etc. However I am using it as a replacement for my computer. Meets my needs fine :) unless TS needs to download legacy apps, RT should be fine
