I see the changi recommends only have traveler sim.
But I will be travelling more than 7 days.
can i just top up the sim like normal sim card?

I actually prefer data only sim as I won't be calling anyone.

Yes you can.

Via Physical Store like Family Mart etc (Used to can top up at 7-11)
OR Physical AIS shop (they have top up machine)
OR ATM machine but you need to have their ATM card which unlikely you have

If go back after 3 months, can top up to reuse?

Nope. Unless you do a top up during your stay in BKK to the prepaid SIM which extends your validity period. For 3 months, probably need to top up around 500 baht.

Another source u can buy prepaid sim card is from qoo10
recently purchased their sim card at 10+sgd
ais is more expensive by a dollar or so ...

normally would buy other things together, and use their coupons
for example, currently, they have spent $30, discount $ 5

Received the sim card few days later
expired end feb next year
once put in the sim card, can straight away use ...

used AIS during my trip 2 weeks ago. Able to call back Spore and also local mobile phones (the uber's contact). Got my SIM from Klook, with mobile app promo discount.

For Changi recommend AIS prepaid, is it only can activate there? Just by dialing the number and it will auto activate?

Will need it for 5 days

Personally for myself, I would buy online from qoo10.
Is $10.90
no need queue up at bangkok airport
no need to scan your passport ... (You must scan your passport when buy)

Once u land, just put your sim card inside the phone
then u can use already, dont need activate

sometimes would buy 3 at one time, then can use their coupon
spent (10.90*3)-5 = $27.70. One sim card is about $9.20
If you buy at bangkok airport is 299b or about $12 , cost more, waste time

Hi maxrebo,
Did u just slot in the card and it's auto workable ?
If that's the case it will be great. Cause usally we will get direct from the airport there

Through the phone setting, I disabled the SIM slot for Starhub and enable the SIM slot for AIS. Also changed the dial and internet setting to AIS. That's all.

Managed to know it from my friend, if you have yet to buy Chubb travel insurance, you can get it from changi recommends portal, where you will be given free 7 days unlimited Data AIS Traveller SIM Prepaid Card per pax covered.

I bought group insurance for a week for 2 pax at $49, and I am able to redeem 2 prepaid cards (worth a total of 600baht (~SGD 24)), which I think is worth it!

Do buy it less than a month prior your departure date, as the prepaid cards must be redeem from changi recommends booth (in any of the terminals at public area) within 30 days.

AIS SIM card can get at Changi Airport for $13. Why go thru all the hassle for $1 or $2 dollars of saving ??

Depends on individual preference ...
I love to shop online ...
Since i am buying things online, must well add in the sim card ...
Since I can combine my items together and use the coupon ...
Just sit at home, they would deliver to your letterbox ...

For example, if I buy 3 dtac sim card, I am only paying $9.23 each
which is $3.77 cheaper than buying ais sim card from changi airport ...
For 3 dtac sim card, I am saving $ 10 already ...
The expiry is at least 6 months ahead (based on my experience)
