To duracellb,

Living room can take 22/24k btu.
The unit that you use the most often can setup as a single system.
Or different rooms that you use often to one compressor, depending on your usage.

Hi Terumo, thank you so much for advising. Benefited a lot from your sharing in this thread.

The salesman told me he upgraded free insulation to Yamato insulation from Japan(white in color, different from black one and it comes in a bag of 45metre) and 23swg copper pipe. My hubby asked why the insulation so long and the salesman say it reduce condensation and then he also ask why it is not 22swg and he explained that they might tell u they use 22 but when they install time they will bring 23 or 24 one to cut cost which makes sense becos my hubby went to see my neighbour installation last week by some contractor so he kaypoh go and ask what pipe they using and they say 22 but then no packing one lei... only got marker write 22swg.. so hubby say better use reputable company for a/c, dun want to suffer leaking problem next time. Salesman was quite sincere and honest though.

The only thing good about them is they uses Yamato insulation from Japan.
Installers are from country B********h. 2 works on my installation. Claimed to hv 6-7 years exp. Squeezed 2 copper tubing to 1 insulation beco' they cannot go thru' the wall. Finished without vacuum the piping. Surprised to see whole group of them come to meet them when done...
Now master bedroom unit having plastic cracking sound. The shop, the agent and the factory do not want to admit there is a problem. Telling me to set to 24-25 deg with med-high fan speed.

My MHI aircon broke recently after 7 years (installed in 2009).

Our service guy (Aircon Cooling) recommended a Mitsubishi Electric, while I'm undecided between these options, both are Inverter System 2 :

a) Mitsubishi Electric MXY-2E20VA / 2 X MSY-GE10VA for $2070 including installation.
This has 4 ticks (energy saving).
The service guy said this model is more quiet.

b) Mitsubishi Heavy Industries SCM45ZJ-S / SRK25ZJ-S x 2, same price as above.
This has 2 ticks.
The guy said this model has more issues with his past customers of not being cold enough, faulty spare parts, etc.

Any experience with these 2 systems? Does the ME system (2 ticks) really consume so much electricity?

I dun really like Mitsubishi starmex cos you can open the flap for cleaning but those are made of plastic so it will get loose after a period of time then will have some vibrating sound. That is my opinion.

maybe the electrical engineers here can help.

Not sure if its the compressor problem or a lack of gas.

my compressor continues running even though the fancoil is turned off. And it freezes up the external piping and the fancoil (the grey small fins behind the air filters become covered with ice).

only when i turn off the main, the compressor fan stops turning and the ice melts.

After defrosting, when i turn it on back, the air is cool and after about 30mins or so, it starts to freeze up.

possibly due to lack of gas that the compressor keeps turning or some electrical malfunction to the compressor?

tia!

Wow, I did not know LG air-con is so problematic but I never trust any Korean brands or products even though it is popular or it claim to be very good or branded, I still trust Japanese products as they have pride in whatever they produce. =:p

To virtualape,

Yours should be a non invertor system, maybe the magnetic contactor is faulty.

Aron & Ah Boon's customer service is amazing.

I posted this not too long ago:

Anyone knows what are the differences between Daikin Urusara and Envi, including price?

My piping is already done, meant for Starmex 2-tick, supposed to install the fan coils and compressor towards the end of my home's renovation works ... think I can still use this same piping if I decide to switch to Daikin Urusara or Envi? :o
The above piping work was done by them.

And then I decided to ask Ah Boon on Whatsapp (because he doesn't answer the phone :s8: ) about the possibility of changing to either 5-tick Starmex or to Urusara or Envi, or whether I'm stuck with my original choice of 2-tick Starmex.

Msg sent early evening, he read the msg late evening, 2 blue ticks ... no reply.

Next afternoon sent another msg ... "do let me know pls, tks" ... he read it late evening, 2 blue ticks ... no reply.

Srsly? Business so good until don't even want to reply after reading? How to trust their after-sales service when they're already like that before the final sales concluded? :s8: I'm wondering if I should just pay them for the piping work already done and find someone else to do the fancoils.

my Panasonic inverter system 3 just uplorry, cost 2.8K in 2009 only 6+yrs spoil. i use it daily for 2 fcu, another fcu very very low usages, install for song.
the system never give any problem since day 1 then just sudden uplorry.
servicing said condenser/compressor pcb spoil replacement $600+
worth to take the risk repair? later other parts spoil again?
6+yrs can consider short lifespan? i was expecting it to last average 8~10yrs

As a follow-up to my previous post, Ah Boon replied this morning. Maybe news of this post got to them ... I won't know ... anyways he said he was on leave last week. I'll take it at face value.

Anyways, I am told that Urusara is single-split only, and Envi fancoils max at 14k BTU. Maybe this was already mentioned in here before but I didn't catch it ... but I guess that explains why some of you doing System 4 with Envi are using the old model fancoil for the living room, and this is something I don't accept.

I probably can't change my order from 2-tick Starmex to the 5-tick either, because my master and living room fancoil positions are cut-out from the false ceiling / L-box and the guys who'd installed the piping made markings meant for a 35-inch long cutout ... the 2-tick fancoils are 31-inches long and the 5-tick fancoils are 36-inches long. I'd probably have to go down to my unit with a measuring tape to see if they did the cut-outs according to the markings or whether they did a standard size cut-out, but chances are slim :(

I looked up the dimensions of several currently-popular brands' and models' fancoils and found that most are in the 9xx mm region in length. The 2-tick Starmex is pretty small at 798mm in length. If mine breaks down a few years from now and it is discontinued at that time and I need to buy a different brand / model, I think I'm royally F@%#ed :(

So ... lesson to be learned here ... anyone out there installing your fancoils into a cut-out in your false ceilings / L-boxes, do make sure your cut-outs are at least 1m in length or bigger for future replacement options.

Aron & Ah Boon's customer service is amazing.
