Same here. Just realised McDonald's isn't supported.

Wonder if non supported stores with the electronic terminals still allows for Apple Pay. :s8:

They'll still allow as long as they have support for those PayWave/Pass systems.

Though the staff might give you a weird look if you say you'll pay by Apple Pie.

SINGAPORE - From today, American Express (Amex) card users in Singapore can tap their iPhone, iPad and Apple Watch to pay for services and goods as Apple rolls out its mobile payment service Apple Pay here.

Like the ez-link stored value cards, Apple Pay uses near-field communication technology to transmit data between the Apple device and a contactless reader. Users must first add their Amex credit card details to a digital wallet stored on their devices. This information is transmitted when the device is placed near the contactless reader during payment.

There are some 30,000 taxis and retail outlets fitted with these contactless readers islandwide, with participating merchants that include the FairPrice chain of supermarkets, and Starbucks and StarHub outlets.

Apple Pay's rollout in Singapore comes after that in the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and China. Its rollout in Spain and Hong Kong is expected later this year.

Visa cards issued by DBS, UOB and Standard Chartered will be supported "soon", Apple said.

Apple Pay works with Apple devices that have the Touch ID fingerprint sensor, such as the iPhone SE, iPhone 6, iPad Pro and the iPad Air 2. The Apple Watch must be running on watch OS 2.1 or later to use Apple Pay.

VISA TO JOIN APPLE PAY BANDWAGON

Visa also announced on Tuesday that Apple Pay will be made available to local cardholders soon.

In a statement, the credit card company noted that Singaporeans have embraced contactless payments, with more than one in three Visa transactions being conducted via Visa payWave, instead of cash.

"Contactless payments and ‘going cashless’ are becoming a part of everyday life, as more consumers and retailers realise that contactless brings greater convenience and faster checkouts for busy people on the go," Ooi Huey Tyng, Visa Country Manager for Singapore and Brunei, said.

"We’re confident the introduction of Apple Pay will be welcomed by all Singaporeans and we look forward to working with our clients to support this technology."

OK I went to NTUC during the lunch time, staff were aware that today is the first day of Apple Pay in SG but they didn't seem to be familiar how to enable Apple Pay, took them quite some time to figure out how to enable it from their end, once it is settled, the rest is pretty smooth, hold phone close to the terminal, finger touch and done, in 2 seconds.
