Good tool to have. The writing is like on paper, very good as compared to the Microsoft surface pen.

I use it with notability on my pro 9.7. Use it for illustrations or diagrams on my notes. Notes that can be typed i will type as my handwritting is messy. Very good battery life. Pretty much no lag when compared to other stylus.

Cons are its expensive, and no proper storage place unlike surface pen which can attach magnetically. I tend to just bring the box in my bag around to keep it.

Each has its pros and cons

Notability:
Better for typing paragraphs than Goodnotes which can only type in text boxes
Nicer interface for browsing notes and subjects than Goodnotes

Goodnotes:
Better handwriting than Notability
Has a function to draw straight lines automatically
that is not in Notability

Personally , I use both apps for different functions

Apple Pencil can only use with iPad Pro right

Both the 9.7" and 12.9" iPads are now "Pros", so this doesn't really matter.

Of course, you'll have to spend a lot just to get the latest iPads....
