What are your comments to the above ST forum posts and what really can be done.

Please include the following for a more meaningful discussion.

District:
Grade Of Managing Agent*: "A" or "B"
Brief Introduction: e.g. owner, family member, lessee, landlord, maid
Current Situation: how long been staying there, how many units on floor, what facilities
Problems Met:
Was it resolved?

If yes, how?

If not, what next?

*Association of Property and Facility Management (http://www.apfm.org.sg/) as of 26 August, 'updating in process' Grade B can only manage up to 100 units IIRC.

Management committee should be remunerated if you really want members to put additional effort in overseeing their own estate and may be it's better to get retirees to be in the committee rather than those who are working and has little time.

That encourages the wrong attitude. Those who work for money won't do as good a job as you will have those who are in for the money only.

So far they managed to keep away the influence of money, hopefully it won't change.

S$250 maximum per annum per council member

Based on the published September 2013 Public Consultation on Proposed Amendments To The Building Maintenance And Strata Management Act, the recommendation is to allow the MCST the option of paying council members an HONORARIUM capped at S$250 per annum per council member to be paid only in monetary terms, not via reduction or discount to the maintenance contribution.

When will the above become 'law'? What is eventually paid depends on the people in the council eventually? What are the ways for the council to 'eat' money?

We have so many laws but without active, uniform and fair enforcement, what use is the purpose of 'law'?

Give contacts to personal contacts?
Hire people they know to be the security, cleaner, sub contractors?
Be strict with their foes and lenient with their friends in the interpretation and enforcement of the BMSMA Act?

MPs do more than just town council work.

Let's focus on MCST. MCSTs are run by owner volunteers. who currently are not paid and are supported by the managing agent.

Large condominiums have on site staff whilst smaller ones normally do not have on site staff. Facilities differ and so does the maintenance funds which range from S$100 to S$800 for the majority.

For mixed, they may have a 2nd tier managing council to handle the commercial portion.
