I took the dive and ordered the Deke H265 box.
I had the Maige($400), one of the first to get the UB($170) , also one of the first to the Deke subscription($120).

I need another box, was considering UB3 with Deke sub.
I think total up should be almost S$250 IIRC.
Pro is UB is free forever, con is UB is not stable.

Having Deke in my UB box, makes me realise that I don't use UB's native apps almost at all. Except the VOD, which is also super unstable.

For the Deke Box, I paid total RMB1586.20, including shipping to SG. It comes with a one year sub.
If FX is 4.75, i paid about SG$334.

I took it because they said there's VOD and can install other apps, which I hope is true.

Why pay $8x bucks more?
Someone in the Geoexpat forum once mentioned that Deke = Maige. People who had used Maige before should know the difference. It's very smooth and very fast. And Deke is the closest I can find to that.

Why is Maige blazingly fast? They use mirror broadcasters around the world, so data is transmitted from your location's nearest server, than going through huge distance from PRC or other countries direct. I can't be sure, but I have a hunch that Deke is base on the same architecture.

When i switch channel on Deke, it's almost instant, at 700kbps.
Compare to UB, can be struggling at 0/1kbps, if lucky 300kbps. Lag taking at least 1 second to load, it might not even load.

Another concern is UB had been around for sometime.
Go to geoexpat forum, it's the most used box now.
As everyone knows, 树大招风, i also will doubt whether the days are near.

For people who wants to buy Deke, you can go to their website.
But the problem is they only accept payment via Wechat/Alipay which we can't pay unless you get a PRC with a verified account to do it for you.

In the end, I told them the problem and I got it paid by Taobao. They got a partner to help them collect the funds.

If you don't want to buy the box, you can also sub just the liveTV app. The trial is free, i think is for a day.

Of course, as usual, buy at your own risk.
Their website: http://deke.tv/
Wechat: 86613021

There's a facebook account for Deke, i think it's run by Malaysian resellers, it's more exp.

I believe if it works, this shameless guy call Relacker and his clone relac clones may be back.
Update:

My H265 box came.
Paid last Friday evening, came today at 2pm.
Came by DHL, inside there's a soonfeng polybag.
Shipment came from Hong Kong.

Take note there's no instructions inside at all.
No battery for the controller too, needs two x AAA.

When it first arrive, it comes without subscription.
Like Maige, you have to message the seller the information they need.

These are the information i sent back to them
1. Photo of the problem, no subscription (Optional)
2. Photo of the mac id behind the machine
3. Photo of the commercial address because they want to know the receiver's name.

This box can indeed install own apps and has VOD.
This is the main menu.

I go topic by topic.

Settings
One thing similar to Maige is you can choose the server.
Choices are: Auto, Telecom 1, Telecom 2, Unicom 1, Unicom 2, Oversea 1 , Oversea 2.

Live Channel

Stream super fast. 1 sec switching
There are 348 channels at the moment, most are very sharp.
I think same as Maige.

No channel 5/8 or Malaysian channels though.
The menu is like this.

1.jpg

You control your controller up down left right.

On the channel, you can play back directly.
So far all the channels I've tried like can play back.

You can also find a preview of the coming shows.

VOD

Also 1 sec can load.

It's not as updated though, maybe 1 week back.
For English, can't find the latest walking day, Lucas cage, etc

Chinese films are more up to date.

Since this box can integrate with Kodi use together, so not bad.

Things I don't like, the menu and controller.
Controller has a lot of buttons can't use. The keep to favourite button don't work.
No mouse stroll too. The VOD not up to date enough.

I also wonder if one day Deke Uplorry, can delete the interface or not but it won't be a paper weight like Maige for sure.

Will i recommend?

If you want the most affordable solution, UB is still the cheapest but channels are sluggish and not stable. Not sure about other boxes mentioned in the last two pages.

If you want the closest box to replace the traffic light operator, this is the one.
There are other choices mentioned recently but I don't have any chance to try at all since they don't seem interested in servicing a deal.

You can don't buy the box if you don't need the VOD or you already have a box.
The Deke's sub i think is RMB 499 a year which work on any box, the interface is different though.

If you need the box it's RMB1380 with a year sub, with a more simplified interface and with VOD.

If you don't have a box yet, it's good to consider.
It is also a good box for the old fellows because it's interface is straight forward enough.
With Kodi as a backup inside, it's a complete and the best solution.

Can't tell, cause they are obviously using CDN, cloud distribution network.
So it has low latency from a nearby server.

There's two overseas server selection on my Deke box.

Do note that the deke app only version, don't allow choosing of server. Though it's as fast.

You can use wechat or the live chat on their website to contact them.
The facebook one is dead i think

China forum now fighting, SuperIPTV/Deke and Dnet says 猫TV had been bad mouthing them. They put up a sticky post as a challenge.

猫TV itself is just a hacker company. If so, won't be that stable too.
I can't even join their QQ, not transparent at all.

I don't know got full 7 days or not, on the channel just click left is rewind back.
One new feature is the preview, can see the upcoming programs
That's for the Deke box RMB1380.

Deke box is 90% like Maige.
Got good points got bad points.
Maige's interface is better, VOD is more updated.
Deke can use other apps(except Google play) and cheaper than Maige.

Deke app standalone itself at RMB 500 don't have. Just a normal channel thing.

What is the best android box in the market that do not need subscription right now?

Or is it better to get a high specs tablet/hp and connect directy to tv via HDMI and download all the apps mentioned here?

I don't think people here do the hp/tablet approach much, most got a box.

Most of the fellows here are on Unblock tech TV box which don't need a subscription but what you pay is what you get of course..

Deke has Japanese channels? Smooth playback?

Can send screenshot of those channels? Seems good as my UB seems to always lag.

What is the major difference between UB2 and UB3?

You can just go to their website and request for trial for the live tv.
Japanese channels should be have.

I won't say 100 percent smooth , still can get stuck sometimes but much better than ub.
