Android APP Comparison
So with the help of nice chaps here, I tried out the suggestions. And once again the pictures are there for one to analyze. I should mention that I am a cheapo and have used only the free APPs only.
And in summary, I find that
OWLR:
FPS:Jerky. Probably the in-between of the 3.
Image Quality:The in between of the 3, but just acceptable.
PTZ Smoothness:OK. Not great.
Comments: Its definitely the easiest to use. Even in "self find cameras" mode, it has very few fields to fill in. NO audio option is a big turn off. And there are NO ADVERTS.
tinyCAM Free:
FPS: Very nice. High FPS means images are faily smooth.
Image Quality:About the same, if not better as OWLR.
PTZ Smoothness: Smooth. Probally lss than OWLR, but acceptable.
Comments: It includes Audio. Biggest issue is that when on cellular, this app really eats into ones data plan. For me, running at high FPS and bitrates probably multiplied the amount of mobile data used on my phone.
IP Cam Viewer Basic:
FPS: Slowest of the 3. Major jumps in frames.
Image Quality
oorest
PTZ Smoothness:Jerky.
Comments: I didnt like the HMI at all. This one just didint go down well with me.
Lastly, its interesting to see the difference in appearance of the same cameras on the different APPs. I guess each APP developer has their own way of doing things.
While I did not mention specifically mention this, the more detailed and smooth and audio equipped the images are, the more bits there is to transmit. On wifi, this is not a problem. On a cellular data, it can be quite painful.
Anyway, this is me rambling. Hoping that someone who is also interested in tinkering along the lines of what I am doing.
