Do read online about the limitations of the X Box as a UHD player. If these issues do not bother you, or you don't have a Atmos / DTS -X system, then it's ok.

Re

The upcoming new OPPO UDP-203 is region-locked to 'A' so cannot play multi-region normal blu ray discs.

Later model will be region unlocked to play multi-region normal blu ray discs

Not really, A is for Asia or ABC for All region so those
disc with Multi region A can be played on most Blu ray player
even concurrent models.

Yes there are disc with ABC region but usually are disc from
US on Amazon or import.
Local disc are still region A or local version.

The only issue is Region B and C Blu ray those
disc can only be played in their respective country.

A general article about 4k players :
http://www.soundandvision.com/content/oppo-does-ultra-hd#Shzlm3iyavDdG1HS.97

Slow day out there, whilst waiting for real 4k player news I guess..

Probably the demand for 4K content on disc isn't that great hence manufacturer are not rushing to develop UHD player yet.
Since now there's Netflix, Hulu and etc. streaming devices
so the vast market is still on streaming.

I do not want to discuss about video files obtain through torrent sites
despite that is also another part of the market.
Such file not only lack in quality but the only biggest issue is
no one seems to care is legal issues.

For now there's 4K TV but no native 4K content yet expect on
Netflix 4K or Youtube but those are compressed videos.

Philips BDP7501 Ultra HD Bluray Player

Finally managed to get my hands on a Philips BDP7501, and I must say the results are stunning considering the player costs below S$350! Playback on my LG55C6 was really smooth with no noticeable visual defects, and the colours on HDR disks are just awesome! Setup was also a breeze...one question, should I configure the video output to 4:4:4 or 4:2:0 based on my TV model? I noticed that the video was 4K/24p even when I selected 4:4:4, shouldn't I be getting 4K/60p?

I'm planning to get a 4K bluray player, but prices varies so much in the market. The OPPO specs look good, but is it really worth the price? I'm looking for good quality sound + video for movies..

Even with a 4K player, do you have UHD disc not from streaming
nor those from file sharing sites for better sound and video?

Sony have announced two 4K, one is the affordable X800 and the UBP-X1000ES.
According to news, they mention release date maybe spring or near Year end.

Not sure whether local Sony SG will be bringing in this or not.
One thing about this player is both have two separate HDMI
one for video and another for audio.

Good sound?
Wait for the Oppo UDP 205 later this year. Should be around twice the cost of the 203. Good value for good sound.

FYI guys UHD disc are available at Poh Kim.
However these UHD look like local version not US.
I only saw Batman VS Superman and Suicide Squad UHD only.
Have send a enquiry whether will there be more titles coming or not.

Those with 4K TV, time to tap on full potential of your TV.
Other than using streaming services/__________ 4K contents.
Price wise rather pricey at $59.90.
