Actually I KIV the Katana since last year but the price and subwoofer build quality put me off. I decided to get the yas-106 for now, looking around for a sub. The yst-sw011 suits my budget but can't seem to find it locally, only online from China.

Can always check with Yamaha for the sub.
Same here not I not willing to test but at this price.
There are so many options for customer to choose.
Whether Yamaha, Sony and etc. most are actually cheaper
than Katana at around $300+.

Creative have never designed a good subwoofer before expect
their subsidiary Cambridge Soundworks which they kill off.
Just look at the line of products I listed.

Votes is 50/50 so those into Katana I try to have a throughout
testing for the Katana the only thing I want to focus is on the sub.
Need to check with Creative whether when can I demo this unit.

Will it deliver and be able to compete with those already in HTS market?

help test gaming surround, is it easy to "detect" movements around you? <= nvm just saw ur comment lmao.. can ignore this request.

movie too, especially the sub, does it have enough "thump" to fill a normal small hdb room when watching explosive/gun fight scene.

music i will just stick to my 2.0

tks in advance.

Hmmm... good suggestion, test the Dolby compatibility and
how well it can render. Sadly Katana does not support DTS which
I usually set for my PS3/4 and Blu ray movies.

Noted about the thump part, guess this one have do a deep
bass movie scene.
Anyone had something you want me to test, do let me know
so at least I can plan and prepare things like a Blu ray with
deep bass scene.

1st user of Katana.
Anyway let's see whether can it appeal to someone like myself
who is into HTS space which means comparing with other brand sound bar.

Of cuz I cannot bring my Sony sound bar there and test. :s13:
But I rather know what most sound bar functions are and
how is the sound like.

Just buy, no need go down, unker two thumbs up liao. Sarpok!

Don't dare sorry, given the number of experience I had.
I just won't buy any Creative product unless I know
it is good.

If I want to do that, I rather ask Creative setup a
crowdfunding than I donate to them.
To do something that either what customer wants/design
and ultimately something that is finally worth our penny.

Yes I rather do donation to Creative since everyone knows
Creative these days are struggling and not many products being
announced unlike in the past.

There is a Katana review here 2 days ago and the review is pretty spot on and consistent with my experience. Slightly muddy on certain tracks, while performing superb in Games like BF1 and Proj Cars etc

If not due to the price (and more ex than Razor), i think it would be a hit.

Local brand must support and they are sinking ship someone
must help save. :s13:
Agree, with so many HTS/Soundbar out there
it's hard for Creative to share a piece of the market.

Sony, Yamaha, Samsung, LG, Pioneer, Denon, Onkyo, Naim
and etc.
So many but most do not want to spend a lot of $ on sound
expect the TV. :s13:

I cancelled my yas-106 order cos no stock. Xiaomi's soundbar and surround speakers look tempting for its price.

Semo generation liao still play counter strike :s22:

unker company really lose touch with current advancements already :s22:

at least play overwatch or battlefield la. counterstrike sound files are like what, compressed 96kbps?

too many bad experience with them already. think their usb input probably need to install their unstable drivers again in order for it to 'just work'

Err.. HTS people like myself go for reputable brand like Sony instead.
Have you consider about the warranty and the voltage since
SG is much higher at 230V you will need a converter also.

https://www.travelchinaguide.com/essential/electricity.htm

Yeah, I will look more into the voltage difference. Warranty wise I can take a gamble, Korean monitors user here. As for sound quality wise, I believe they should at least sound decent having used their earphones.
