No problem. Intel improvement is very minuscule through the generations since Sandy(2nd)/Ivy(3rd) Bridge. So rest assured, i5 from 3rd gen onward is okay for your usage. Just gpu maybe get slightly better like a gtx 960 or 970 since your kids will game on it.

Top with a ssd, I don't see this specs will lose out to current gen Intel by a notable gap.

My last PC had a 3570 (non K) processor. For normal use, it was super fast. You can definitely have a great experience on them even now

Intel has been quite infamous for not really innovating their CPU tech lately. Even the old i7 3770k is still a beast in the Intel line up.

Still using 3770k with 1070. No lag gaming at 1440p.

Depending on the specs, older PC not all support Windows 10
so best to check first.
If it's second, even a PC with Windows 7 will do just fine.

This is what i am afraid of, for eg, ipad mini first gen will run fine in iOS 5 but if you upgrade to iOS 8 then super laggy liao.

Not all support windows10 means what? dependency is on chip or mobo or?

@poooooo : you using windows 10?

Intel 3 and 4 series will support. Even the 2 series. Even the older series.
