In view of the influx of new threads asking the same question over and over again, I am proposing a master thread for all related questions. Please ask your questions in this thread instead of creating a new one, and I will update this top level post as time goes. Also, I will be sharing some 'best xxx cards for yyy transactions', but as some of you may know, I am a miles collector instead of cashback. Therefore my knowledge on cashback cards may be quite limited, and I would appreciate if you guys can contribute on those as well. Cheers!

If you have any suggestions to make the thread easier to read and parse, feel free to let me know!

Crowd sourced spreadsheet for online merchant classifications here

A template for asking questions (suggested, but feel free to use your own):

Aim: miles / cashback
Merchant: can either be specific (eg. Amazon) or general (eg. restaurants)
Currency: SGD / foreign
Mode: online / offline / contactless

Great thread by a great contributor! When this takes off, we should definitely upgrade it to sticky status!

For "Overseas: UOB Visa Signature (min $1k/mth) / UOB PRVI (2.4mpd)", might be a good idea to state that UOB Visa Signature's 4mpd is capped at S$2k/statement month)

just to add
For Shopping cashback
DBS BLACK CARD- 5% for spends in stores that sells watches, jewelleries, shirt, shoes etc ( refer to dbs webbie) / min spend $700 per calender month/ max ** is $70

in addition, its gives 1.2miles ( in the form of DBS pts) per $ spent in above categories...

Not really, the 3xpoints ie 1.2miles/$ is for paywave, and only apply to the visa version.

The 5% shopping rebate promo ending on 31 mar, not sure if will extend.

Nice list. Would be good to state whether miles will expire or will not expire for the respective cards because some are having non-expiry which is an important point for some people.

Very useful consolidation, thanks.
Online spend classification is a can of worms though so would be useful to link to our very own crowd sourced spreadsheet:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ffbzrIlK7iTO_IAT7nzk8ULWf1zsRX9F-rniLbRwwR4/edit

Will do!

Will add to list if it extends.

I feel that doing this will create too much clutter, and most miles collector should be aware of their own expiry dates. Made this thread mainly for the purpose of eliminating all the "What's the best card for XXX/YYY merchant?" threads, so that other more useful threads can be on the first page as well.

This forum will be way more usable if it had wiki section on top like other forums on the same engine.

My 2c:

Generic miles spend in foreign currency:

Miles
Generic spend
DBS Altitude Visa - 2mpd
DBS Treasures Amex - 2.3mpd

Suggest to differentiate spending requirement is by calendar month (c.mth) or statement month (s.mth). Very common question.
