Ashes of Creation is an upcoming MMORPG, set in a high fantasy open world. We believe in choice, organic events, player narratives and massive communities. All of these come together in what we call our “Reactive World.” Players will shape the world we create through dynamic quests, castle sieges, our Node system, an economy that goes well beyond the auction house, and player housing (among many other systems). We’ll set up the initial state, you decide where it goes from there.









Nodes
Dynamic world that evolves and reacts to action of the players. Cities will rise and fall, populations will change, quests will unlock, etc.

Housing
Build anywhere. Develop your plot of land as you see fit. Specialize to maximize profit. Choose wisely.

Questing
Combines traditional MMO’s as well as unique player driven experiences. Area quests, public quests, and quest chains that change dynamically and in real time based on the player’s experiences and choices. Directly alter world events and change the landscape through your actions, as an individual and as a community. Server quests will allow political rivals to compete for the fate of the world.

Sieges
Participate in massively multiplayer siege warfare. Secure and hold castles with hundreds of players on a single battlefield. Great risks will have great rewards. Castles allow players to exert control over nearby lands and allow for the development of unique buildings in nearby towns.

Player Vs Environment
PvE in a visually stunning realm with fantastical beasts and creations. The world is harsh and unforgiving.

Adaptive AI means encounters with similar creatures will yield a completely different experience to adapt to as a player. Keeping you on your toes for constantly changing responses from your adversary.

Player Vs Player
PvP spans many aspects of the game. From massive sieges to open world GvG battles. In arenas or Caravans (see below).
PvP mechanics follow a flagging system designed to offer players a well-balanced and fair world to shape through the pen, or sword should they choose.

Caravans
Opportunity and risk. Helps players earn by defending and transporting goods for profit. Caravans are static PvP zones and caravans are integral in city development.

Trade
Resource system is one reason for players to explore the wilderness and travel. Transporting goods will have it's own challenges and difficulties. Regional market system allows players to create pocket economies.

Crafting and Gathering
Players have direct control over economy via Gathering and Crafting. Crafters have the ability to create unique items.

Previous Kickstarter Backer Accounts

We sent out an email on Wednesday (6/21) indicating that previous Kickstarter backers would need to sync their Kickstarter accounts with their Ashes of Creation account via their email address. Many backers voiced their concerns that they did not like this system. Therefore, we worked with our engineering team to change this. Instead of having to link your Kickstarter and Ashes accounts, your Kickstarter registered email will receive a key code representing your Kickstarter package. You will then be able to apply the code to whichever account you wish. If you do not have an account to put it on yet, you’ll still need to register on www.ashesofcreation.com and then go to https://www.ashesofcreation.com/account/ to apply your key. This key will be distributed via email within 5-8 days from today (6/23).

Previous Kickstarter Backer Upgrades

Once previous Kickstarter backers apply their received codes to their account via the Account page, they will then be able to go to the Summer Crowdfunding Campaign page and upgrade their pledges. The choice of pledges will be from the original Kickstarter offerings. If you own an early bird package, you will keep that early bird value while upgrading. For example, if you own an $80 Early Bird of the Pioneer package, and you wish to upgrade to the Founder package, you will pay the difference from $100 to $150, not $80 to $150.

Your Items

The checkout process on our site currently indicates that you can immediately download your items after purchase. This is incorrect. However, you will receive your package keys after our Summer Crowdfunding campaign has completed. We are working with our web team to try to get this messaging clarified on the site ASAP.

Backer Goals

We are working with our web team to put up a ticker so that you can track progress in real time on our new backer goals. We expect this to be implemented within the next few days.

One of the most important decisions you’ll make in your Ashes of Creation career is picking your class. It shouldn’t be something you stress over too much, but it also needs to be something that lets you feel unique enough to not be “Nameless Sword-and-Shield Hero Number 47”. With that in mind, our class system lets you pick one of eight (8) base classes to begin, and then later you’ll be able to mix in a secondary class to create one of sixty-four unique class mixes.

Secondary classes in our game are more than just another list of spells and skills to add to your hotbar. They’re not secondary in name only, as each one brings in unique augments that fundamentally change how the primary class skills work, what they’re called, and what they do. A Warden must feel uniquely different from a Spell Hunter, and a Beastmaster must feel unique when partnered up with a Necromancer.

When players choose their primary class, it’s not just dictating how the next several hundred hours of gameplay will go. The secondary class choice, which comes after some time getting used to the world of Verra, will be more fluid. If you choose the Fighter and the Rogue to make a Shadowblade, but eventually want to try your hand at Summoning to make a Bladecaller, you’ll be able to do so. It’s only the primary class that cannot be changed. And hey, that’s what alts are for!

As we march into 2018, we’ll be detailing each of the eight Base Classes, and all 64 of the combined classes with brief rundowns of their lore, skills, and mechanics. Today, as we begin our Friends and Family Alpha Zero test, we wanted to show you just how diverse we expect our playing field to be. The classes adhere to roles like tanking, DPS, support, and healing, but it’s really so much more than that. Each one must provide a true fantasy fulfillment for the player – you want to be a badass, no matter what your class. And that’s a promise we intend to keep.

Glorious Ashes Community,

We are excited to announce that all registered users for Ashes of Creation will be able to play Apocalypse on December 18th! You will receive instructions before the 18th on how to set-up your Apocalypse open beta account. As you are aware, we have been testing the Apocalypse arena heavily over the past couple months. The goal of this testing was to answer the feedback from our community about the development of our combat system.

From the very beginning, we have designed towards a hybrid combat system that provides players the choice between more action oriented combat or traditional tab targeting combat. This blend of combat required that we take a unique approach to testing. So as a result we introduced an unplanned testing phase we called Alpha 1 Phase 1, and it was solely built around testing the action side of our intended hybrid system.

As this testing period was introduced, we decided to package up the intended game modes of Battle Royale, Castle Sieges and Co-Op Horde and rename it Apocalypse. We also decided that we wanted to stress our server infrastructure with as many players as possible. So on December 18th we will grant this testing phase to everyone as a Free-To-Play experience.
