Yup agree, we need more of such delusional people so that competition in the industry will be not so stiff. There are people taking all kinds of jobs from different category. Isn't it right razorlala, don't you think so?
I honestly feel that you shldnt be taking things so far. Lol. I rly feel that the topic shld just end here. Seems like you are making a mockery out of reishi's situation so please just stop this conversation.

well i am ok with $1k/month, so long i have enough for food and bills but i do think thinking ahead and working hard are both good skills to have if you intend to fill a niche in the market, which is what most successful entrepreneur have. honestly, if you were to choose between working for $3-4k/month and work from 9-5pm, letting the computer runs itself and earn $1.2k/month with almost 0 effort, i think i would take the second option as a more viable option

if people want to do what they do, earning less or more is up to them.. money isn't the only factor to determine what you want to do. And besides, if she thinks going to NTU she can get more/different resources to further her studies compared to other unis, nothing wrong with that...

then again, it's true that gov sector only hires 2nd upper hons and above from recognized unis, gov sector work usually prioritize work life balance,so almost 0 OT and go home on time. Private sector doesn't care as much but they don't pay for OT. Employment rate may not be reflective of people with different hons.

But razorlala mentioned that getting a Arts and social sci degree in local or private degree makes not much of a difference? Is it true for this course, since there is no particular expertise or skills the students have been equipped?

All the best..

Well while we are at it,why not rate my chance of appeal? Diploma in Tourism and Resort Management. I am fluent in a third language and is using as the focus of my appeal. Wrote how I could contribute to NUS in my essay

I guess Tourism and third language are not very related? Which course in particular are you looking at?

Exactly. If you want to disagree with reishi, so be it. Everyone has their own way of leading their lives, but there's no point mocking people, doesn't help anything. At this point some of you are just being plain mean.

Tell me more about yourself and which specialisation u intend to choose. If u applying for biz
I'm an A Level student who scored about 71.25RP grades ABC for my H2s but S for my GP, which I believe is the main reason why I'm unable to get into business course besides the fact that my H2 did not meet the IGP. However, as I'm really interested in doing business I've appealed to NTU and have applied to retake A levels as well as my back-up.

I'm looking to specialize Banking Finance or Business Analytics...

Your grades are extremely far off from any biz, acc, or econs courses. Guess you should consider NTU enginneeing courses. Biz, Acc or econs related courses require high requirements. Don't be like few of them here retake A levels for the sake of entering a particular course. Retaking has a lot of factors to weigh in before making this decision.

I am looking at FASS's Japanese Studies. I cleared the highest level Japanese proficiency test and has the certificate. Appealed to nus saying that it's my dream to be a translator and I wanna contribute to NUS' Japanese Society Club

obviously there's a difference between the degrees if they are obtained from different unis, why do you think timeshighereducation and qs university rankings exist... it's just that smaller firms don't have the luxury to carefully pick who they are hiring so to them their expectations aren't high

Very high chance. Since you have so many achievements related to your course. I guess they will see your true passion towards this course. Good luck in your path to become a Jap-Eng translator.

But he mentioned for this particular course (social sciences-where he claimed to be most useless), is there a difference in getting a local or pte uni?

Hi, yes I do understand where I'm coming from and have questioned myself many times if I'm actually going to retake As for the sake of getting into this one course and not be open about other courses.

As I know of a few people who have the same grades as me except for GP who got into NBS, I wanted to give it a shot myself as NBS has been one of my goals that I set for myself and I don't want to give up easily. This may sound as though I'm very fixed on business, but I personally feel people shouldn't give up on what they aim for without trying all the opportunities available.

I do appreciate your rationale for warning me about retaking As just for the sake of retaking. I hope I wouldn't need to as I know the workload isn't going to be easy, especially without much resources..

So what do you intend to do? If your appeal to Biz got rejected, will you accept other courses or retake As?

What is the first thing you would think about if u fail to get into Biz this yr?

It's actually not that far off other than GP?? My friend got into NTU biz with BBC and E for GP. The poster's grades for his/her H2s can actually make it into NTU biz/econs and SMU biz/econs for sure, but like the person said it's probably the S for GP which affected his/her chances.

U sure BBC for ntu biz? I thought the requirements was AAB/C (80RP)? Unless your friend got in by DA, or else it is almost impossible since it is so far off?

Even tho the highest level is defined as 'native level', my Japanese proficiency is the about the same as a typical SG Chinese's proficiency in Mandarin except that I can read Japanese articles without looking up the dictionary often. I started learning only 3 years ago and passed the exam 6 months ago so it is possible. Study every day and make Japanese part of your every day life:) I just had my german class today and got overwhelmed haha

Wow very impressed with you learning multi-languages. You can travel to countries and speak with the locals as well as able to read articles, books as well as watch videos without subs. Very envious.. Can you speak Korean too, since your username is a korean name?
