Any fellow HWZer in Marine Parade experiencing weak signal inside the unit? :s13:
Postal code 440033

I had to place the antenna just outside my main gate in order to get signal :s8:

I wanted to ask for recommendations for a more powerful antenna. Thanks!

Are you using an active antenna? Most set-top box and IDTV can show the signal strength and quality bar to help u locate the best location to place your antenna.

Since it says "Booster", I assume this is an active antenna. This kind of antenna only suitable for DTV receiver box, not for DTV use.

Receiver box can provide the 5V power to the antenna via the coaxial cable, just by selecting from the box's menu option "Antenna Power on/off"

For DTV, there is no "Antenna Power on/off" feature. You will need to find an active antenna with a USB plug, or some come with a 5V power plug.

Box is generic and used by others:

The actual unit look:

(Update: beware, two members reported after my post that their sets failed very quickly)

Does your unit front panel show clock time during standby mode?

I don't recommend this as well. Bought one in dec 2016 and spoilt the box a day by static after receiving the unit because of fidgeting a non-powered antenna.

yes you are correct
i use it with a receiver box as the original antenna that comes
with the box has terrible reception (<35% marine parade area)

apologies to all for omitting this fact

i was not aware it would be different from that used on a TV
as I do no own any DVB-T ready TVs

It could just be a passive antenna after all, i.e. no amplifier inside.

Bought my indoor antennas (passive type) from Lazada, $8~$9 with free shipping.

Tested in Bishan & Toa Payoh on DVB-T TVs, no problem with receiving SG free to air channels.

When did you start using the antenna? There is no more DVB-T transmission in sg since Mar this year. Now there is only DVB-T2 transmission.

For more info, check post #4 in this thread.

In any case, so long as you have a DVB-T2 tv/stb, you can receive T2 broadcast using the same antenna. The antenna is just a dumb device to pass the signal received to the tuner.
