Are you using VPN? All sites lag? During peak hours? Can watch toggle video Streaming without issue? Use Google or Open DNS? Any packet loss?

Hi guys,

Im looking to switch from Singtel to Starhub 1Gbps Fibre service, can anyone share their experience with Starhub in regards to their fibre services?

Thanks! :D
Nobody can give you a clear answer.
Complaints on connection issues are there in any ISP(s).
As complaints are a lot but the opposite will not as who would comments as having the best but would be shot down by others.

For me as same as tungsten2, i do not have any complain on connection as it do not exist.
Moving from one location to many other locations i do not faced any issue, as never encountered to call Starhub in any services i have.
I signed up starhub since day 1 they start operation.
It is not because of SingNet have problem, which actually no issue.
Up to now i do have benefit from starhub.
Current contract is HomeHub 1000 at $49.90
Fibre broadband is $49.90 when i did the recontract.
As i am given free IPTV subscription, hence a saving.

Because it is all under Netlink Trust infra.
Basically i don't accept this one off statement.
Each individual user do have its own cable, from TP to NetLink to ISP, etc.
If unlucky then it could be somewhere along the connections something is not right.
Hence ISP side do the troubleshoot, provided they really do.
I seen NLT (NetLink Trust) staff at work and how they do the install, set up, testing, etc; all outside the premises.
The cable is similar to the yellow fibre cord between TP & ONT.
As this is a sensitive cable hence technician said to be careful not to tie as it is light signal.
I had seen my previous IT staff working inside the cable room where the cables are messy and there are ports to connect cable.
As also not to step on any cables to avoid damaged.

Haha...
My next door neighbour also have the same benefit.
But not sure on other neighbours.
Both of us signed up fibre upon TP installation at my location.
That is about 3 to 4 years only on HomeHub.
But prior to fibre i was on their cable, and neighbour do have cable tv.
Wonder how they give out this type of promotions.

I do not mind paying. Service is still acceptable.

Cos different people have different expectation and usage pattern...

Sometimes if the usage is not intensive enough, you won't see the limit of the performance..

Well im not a gamer & jjust want a reasonable speed (say 700-800 mbps for a 1 gbps plan) and a connection then is stable & not always disconnected. This is esp if i am going for starhub fibre tv too. Will be a disaster if the connection is sh*tty unstable with frequent disconnects cos that means intermittent internet AND tv šŸ™„

Personally still undecided between singtel BB & tv and starhub BB & tv.

For your info.
Starhub Fibre and IPTV are both on separate IP.
Meaning IPTV IP is fix due to the subscriber subscribed channels.
If fibre do have issue as in connection or maintenance, it will not affect IPTV.

For Singtel i do not know.

No issue for light user.
But surely whether connection is stable or got frequent DC has nothing to do with light or heavy user rite?

Have read sbout starhub's supposedly crappy DNS server though not everyone can agree if that is the main cause of problems.

Singtel tv does have a separate bandwidth that is not usable by internet usage, hence the vlan and priority configuration..

Eric3743 has said what i want to say. Starhub is not so bad. If you heavy download then they will do internet traffic shaping.

Fingers crossed. Cos I'm on starhub cable TV for so long, I guess it only makes sense to transition to starhub fibre TV.
