Should I pay m1 $190 and upgrade to this router? Currently using rt-ac68u

AC68U? Just stay on it. You won't see sufficient improvements to make $190 worth it. Would probably make more sense to get it and sell the AC88U off, since RRP is much higher than $190.

Yes. Tired and tested. Exact same ssid on diff channels. I walk from living to bedroom, seamlessly hand off. Cheap mesh solution. Works like a charm.

This is actually the traditional way of doing things. Passive handoff, so it is not a mesh. Mesh systems actually are aware of which client is connected to which node at any point of time and will negotiate within the system to pass you over to the nearest node, aka active handoff.

That said the good old passive handoff what I have been using too.

if not urgent, maybe can try wait for the AiMesh feature to go official...
after that, u can get a cheap 2nd hand supported router like ac68u and create a mesh network.

It should work better than using a repeater i think :D

sian 1/2, i had ac68u couple of yrs ago and sold it off after getting ac88. now have to sell off ac1200g+ to buy back ac68 to enable mesh :s13::s13:
