ST Engineering's aerospace arm clinches S$530m in new contracts in Q3

SINGAPORE Technologies Aerospace, the aerospace arm of Singapore Technologies Engineering (ST Engineering), has secured new contracts worth about S$530 million in the third quarter of 2017.
These contracts are for services ranging from heavy airframe and engine maintenance, component repair and overhaul to cabin retrofit, ST Engineering said on Monday.
The heavy airframe maintenance contracts include long-term agreements to support a range of aircraft platforms from MD-11, Boeing 777 and Boeing 757 to A300 for freight operators.
Other MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) contracts clinched in Q3 include agreements to service CFM56-7B engines for European and Asian airlines, as well as agreements to overhaul the landing gears of commercial and military aircraft, ST Engineering said.

ST Engineering's electronics arm wins S$585m in contracts in Q3

SINGAPORE Technologies (ST) Electronics, the electronics arm of ST Engineering, has clinched about S$585 million worth of contracts in the third quarter of 2017.
These contracts are for rail electronics and intelligent transportation, satellite and broadband communications, as well as advanced electronics and information communications technologies (ICT) solutions, the company said on Tuesday.
Rail electronics and intelligent transportation contracts of about S$125 million were secured from local and overseas customers, including the supply of the communications and platform screen door systems for Bangkok's MRT Blue Line and Blue Line Extension, and the passenger information systems for Wuhan Metro Line 11.
Contracts amounting to S$101 million were awarded by government, telecom and enterprise users worldwide for the supply of broadband network, satellite network equipment and earth stations.
About S$359 million worth of advanced electronics and ICT contracts were secured from customers in both the public and private sectors. These included integrated security management systems, tactical vehicles with communications systems, operations, as well as maintenance and engineering services.

ST Engineering Q3 profit up 68% on absence of one-time charge

THE absence of a one-time charge for its speciality vehicle business in China gave a fillip to results for Singapore Technologies (ST) Engineering for its third quarter.
Net profit leapt 67.5 per cent to S$128.4 million from the previous year, the group said in a Singapore Exchange filing on Wednesday morning.
For the three months ended Sept 30, revenue was little changed at S$1.62 billion, from S$1.61 billion the previous year. Higher revenue in the aerospace and electronics segments had been offset by lower contribution from the marine and land systems segments, said ST Engineering.
The bottom line had been boosted by lower distribution and selling expenses as well as other operating expenses, due to the absence of a one-time charge. ST Engineering had made an impairment of S$61.1 million for the same quarter last year for its speciality vehicle business in China.
Earnings per share rose to 4.12 Singapore cents from 2.47 Singapore cents in the previous year.
ST Engineering president and CEO Vincent Chong said that the firm's order book continues to be strong, and it maintains its outlook of comparable revenue and profit before tax for the year.

ST Aerospace wins 15-year contract from Gulf Air for B787 component support
Mon, Nov 20, 2017 - 5:51 PM Nisha Ramchandani nishar@sph.com.sg

SINGAPORE Technologies (ST) Engineering's aerospace arm, ST Aerospace, has landed a 15-year contract for Boeing 787 aircraft component support from Bahrain's flag carrier Gulf Air.
Under the agreement, ST Aerospace will provide component maintenance-by-the-hour (MBH) support for the airline's new fleet of 787-9s, including component exchange, repair, overhaul and modification. The Dreamliners will start to arrive from Q2 2018, with a total of 10 787s in the coming years.
ST Aerospace's MBH programme comes at a fixed rate per hour, enabling airlines to keep operating costs low while minimising fixed asset inventory in terms of spares or maintenance equipment.
ST Aerospace provides component support for a fleet of close to 600 aircraft on an MBH basis to over 20 airlines in the Asia-Pacific, Europe and the Middle East.
Headquartered in Muharraq, Gulf Air operates scheduled services to 42 destinations in 25 countries.
