So what happened is that my credit report associated with my FIN showed no credit cards (which I have >8) and GX as score. That's because my info was associated with my passport number, not FIN.

Made a call to credit bureau and requested to merge/associate two reports. They sent me the 'real' report afterwards and as expected - AA with score of 1938.

Anyone got more?

After this, I went to carefully count my credit cards, most of them in a mooncake tin.

Goodness! I have 22 active credit cards from 10 banks:
7 DBS (up from 6 due to ANZ taken over),
1 HSBC,
1 BOC (down from 5 in the past 12 months),
2 SCB, 1 overdraft,
2 Maybank, 1 overdraft,
2 UOB, 1 overdraft,
2 ICBC,
2 Citibank (up from 1 in the past 12 months),
2 Amex, and
1 CIMB.

I seriously need to reduce them.

More as in higher score or more credit cards?
Don't know if that's something that's worth comparing.

Score of 2000 here.

max score should be 2k.
But people always believe with more cards u hold, it will pull down your score which is not so good.

I believe it's the opposite, the more cards with more banks would mean a higher credit to debt ratio. Which would pull up the score.

Failing to pay on time would be the big downer to the score, people who believe the more cards = lower score are also usually the ones who make min. or late payments often.

That's interesting, seems like there's no transparency as to how our credit bureau calculates the scores.

i suspect the banks don't report late payment immediately...maybe they give chance or buffer of 1-2 months before reporting :s13:

i think your late payment card is not from ocbc bank right?:D

yeah lah, cancelled all my ocbc cards left frank card but never used it :s13:

the late payment was with amex and citi and both answered the call promptly and happily waived all charges and even thanked me for calling :D

totally different experience from ocbc :s13:
