SG launch not so soon, I guess the earliest possibly around July 2018.

Xiaomi will be launching the Redmi 5 Plus (India's Redmi Note 5) in SG soon, possibly in March 2018.

To be honest, most of us are using export sets (redmi note 4) bought from qoo10, so im assuming we will do the same for redmi 5 pro. It's cheaper to get export sets. Plus, both models comes with SD processor, so all the more don't have to wait for local release.

Yeah true, and since the Redmi Note 5 Pro is launched in India first, it also means that Global ROM will be available earlier and pre-installed if those export sellers are selling Indian models.

Hmm $350 or around that price range is not convincing for me. I can get an honor 7x, which i feel is a better phone or even a used oneplus 5 i guess

depends if u value performance highly. u are paying 350$ for something with an equivalent of a sd 625 and worse battery life.

The phone doesn't have NFC though.

Probably getting it for my dad. The old Xperia Z2 is getting slow and the battery cmi.

It's subjective.. I don't see honor 7x a better phone with slower processor, GPU and smaller battery.

The honor 7X probably wins on the design and the camera, but the Redmi Note 5 Pro wins on the other aspects such as battery life and processor performance.

If only the battery can stretch to 5k range similar to current Mi Max 2 then it would be a match made in heaven.

The Redmi Note 5 Pro should be a good indication of the specs of the upcoming Mi Max 3, judging the past 2 iterations of Mi Max having similar specs to the Redmi Note line.

wait for the full reviews to be out first before judging this actually.

The initial pictures looks quite impressive on this rn5p

Rear is a combination of Sony (12MP)+Samsung (5MP), while front is a Sony (20MP). :s12:

Even though it's a Sony sensor, it also highly depends on the algorithm that Xiaomi has tuned for it. If the algorithm is average, it will only achieve average results even if it's using a high-quality camera sensor.
