Samsung UBD-K8500 and Sony X-800 can be used with your 230VAC direct without transformer. I have tested with my units and I am not responsible if your's got blown doing the same.

Oppo-205 is the best 4K UHD Blu Ray player there is, in terms of performance, features and build quality.

I know 4K UHD player in SG very limited choices.
Samsung $599, LG $599, Oppo ($1K or so) cambridge audio 4k blu ray ($1.4k)
Oppo and Cambridge Audio can be found at Adelphi.

Here is some good news especially for those interested in the Sony 4K UHD player.
I have check with Sony SG and they are bringing in the Sony UBP-X700!

No confirm release date but they mention second half of 2018.
Take note that the Sony UBP-X700 uses a external power adapter
like Sony BDP-s6700.

SRP wise not known, probably around $500 or so.
For those intending to get Sony 4K UHD player you may have to wait.
Or get the UBP-X700 from US but I am not sure whether the
external power adapter is Universal or not.

I am also checking with them whether can pre-order or not.
For sure many will want to finally get a good 4K Blu ray player
so confirm it will sale out very fast.

For me it will give me ample time to migrate from 1080p setup
to 4K HDR. Just change a new 4K HDR TV but most of my
sources are still in 1080p except streaming services.

Xbox One S Problem with 4K UHD Disc

Hi

Just bought an Xbox One S recently purely for the 4K UHD player. So far, all my Blu-rays played fine, and I only got 3 4K UHD Blu-rays, all from Warner Bros, Batman vs Superman, Wonder Woman, and Justice League. The first 2 played instantly without glitch, but Justice League can't play at all. The Xbox says it can't read the disc. I have a 1-to-1 exchange from the Blu-ray shop and the new disc still won't play.

Anyone having similar problems with the Xbox One S ?

Have you check that all the disc are Region A?
The disc is it from Amazon or locally purchase?
If locally purchase, maybe bring to Poh Kim ask them try.

Yes sometimes disc does have issue, I myself have encounter quite a few.
However disc from online than exchanging it is tedious.
Xbox One S I don't recommend it as a 4K UHD player, if there are still
issues opt to change to a dedicated 4K UHD player like from Samsung/LG.

Sony one I am still waiting but no news yet.

All 4k discs are region free... see if there are any issues with this issue of that disc.
Sometimes there's a production issue.

4K UHD disc are region free. I have returned the disc to the shop and exchange it with The Last Jedi 4K UHD. The Last Jedi played beautifully.

Just wondered, anyone have the Justice League disc and did it played on the dedicated player like Samsung ?

How much did you pay for the X Box S?
Does it play all regions of DVDs or just code 3?

Sometimes it could be disc manufactured problem.
I don't have Justice League yet so I can't comment since
I am waiting for US version.

BTW it seems Sony UBP-X700 will come soon, somehow
Sony malaysia have listed it so SG maybe next.

Just sharing with you guys.
I check with Sony about the UBP-X700, they have mentioned
they will launch it soon.

If you are thinking to buy a 4K UHD player, hold your horses.
I see I can reserve a unit or not I can forsee it will be sold out
within minutes.

I don't think there will be a stampeded for 4k players, especially if the price is much higher than US prices..
Many 4k TV owners are still using youtube as their source of '4k'.. ;)

True, Youtube, Netflix, Android box for 4K contents.
I also hope the price isn't too high as usually Sony
tend to price their products really high.

I will be surprise if Sony were to price this less than $599. I doubt there will be a stampede because there is also a lack of content in SG. Personally I think the US model works well also
