With their new coolers I'm now confirmed that their main target customers are poser gamers.

Looks like it's super close to the 8700k performance. https://elchapuzasinformatico.com/2018/04/review-amd-ryzen-7-2700x-x470/

No wonder they didn't bother releasing the 2800X. Also, they only tested it at 3200mhz RAM clocks while the coffee lakes had 3600mhz (not like thee ram clocks matter much for coffee lake though)

I'm more impressed by the 40W improvement over the Ryzen 1700 and of course, the RGB cooler :). Glad that Ryzen can finally go toe-to-toe with Intel on games.

well most of the folks who purchase the latest and fastest cpus are poser gamers. So it does make sense since it is only a few cents more in cost.

Does the cpu comes with default coolers?

I remember intel also excluding any coolers for the k variant. Is AMD following suite?

Base on most reviewers souce is that it does comes with their coolers even with their X series.

The 1st gen K didn't. The 2nd gen K comes with RGB cooler.

And why would "most of the folks who purchase the latest and fastest cpus" not buy their own cooling solution?

Hence my conclusion at post #6

All processors regardless of X or non X will come with a cooler. The cream of the crop, 2700X will get the full fat cooler.

I feel if the cooler is up to the task of keeping the CPU cool, then there is no need for after market coolers. However, it is usually not the case, and therefore, people will look for a better alternative.

No stock cooler will keep up if you're overclocking anywhere decently.

I think a lot of enthusiasts like to swap out coolers though. It's one of the simplest things to do even for amateurs.
