Water may be free from bacteria but the water runs through piping and may pick up sediments such as rust, etc. Its good to filter water before drinking to remove particles deposited in the water as they may collect in your kidneys and form kidney stones.

I hate to spoil your fun but any rust or sediment you happen to consume just goes in your mouth and out your anus. only dissolved minerals can be absorbed by the body. solids in no way can enter your blood stream through your stomach or intestines.

Good to know. But take it from someone who has kidney stones, having it is no joy, so i'm filtering my water regardless. :)

How much is the water filter? Snake oil or not, depend on yourself whether willing to part with the money or not. I don't know which one is good but I stick with big brand confirm no go wrong. By the way, I using the 3M water dispenser.

I have also experienced passing kidney stones so I know the concern. I drink a lot more water now so that my kidneys don't have to work so hard.

No need expensive ones. All those MLM systems just jiak $$$

Using Brita myself, cheap and good.

If really need a lot of volume, can follow this sg researcher's recommendations here: http://waterqualityinsingapore.blogspot.sg/

A lot of MLM companies always go around BTO estates now. Claimed to be accredited but if you check closely, those type of accreditation usually is ownself give ownself, from commercial entities, not government body. Don't be conned.

Edit: Actually tap water is good enough if want to save money :p
Thanks

Just sharing that I am using this. A simple 3 stage filter; 1 sediment and 2 carbon block filters.

You can get it from Amazon for $185USD all in.

As a minimum, you'll need 2 basic filters.

1. Sediment filter - filters sand, dirt, particles that pass through water system, protects more expensive filter down the line.
2. Carbon filter - filters chlorine, bad taste

Then the filters need to change regularly.
When to change depends on the volume passing through.
Typically, 6 months -2 years (if water is very clean)

Don't skip the sedimentI filter, it's the first line of protection. I made this mistake.

I bought the hyflux nano 3-in-1 filter.
so far so good..
but i discovered ... filtered water cannot keep long..
last time , boiled water i keep in my waterbottle.. after 3days, if you swipe the inner portion of the bottle, it is not slimy.

but with filtered water, after 2nd day, you go swipe the inner portion of the bottle, it is slimy.

EDMW experts,

Usually I buy bottled mineral water from the supermarket.

Now I think I want to install a filter at home, and just use the water at home.

Could you please recommend 2 or 3 filters to me ? I will trust your suggestions and buy them.

I am confused reading this thread. Please suggest 2 or 3 filters and I will just select one and buy it.

Thank you for your kind advice.

I think Espring is not bad. Personally used it close to 2 years for now and really like it. Got NSF accreditation and won Readers Digest Consumer Awards for a long time. Got UV and carbon filter so kill germs and filter at the same time.

If want more info can PM me. I think now got discount so good chance to buy one.
