see w w w.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2018-05-01/banks-scrambling-for-hong-kong-deposits-push-rates-as-high-as-3

Notwithstanding the missing element of China tech listings, how much of this scenario will pan out in the local scene ?

If you ask me, I would say there's a very high probability of market price fixing on the local scene. In the past, banks were caught fixing the exchange rates of regional currency, sorry I forget the exact details but you can find out more online.

All the excitement is with Singapore Savings Bonds now, but my Fixed Deposits Database is still updated. Please check out chuanz's interface:

https://sgfd.neocities.org/

Best rate for $25k 6 months: CIMB 1.35% pa
Best rate for $25k 12 months: ICBC (online) 1.47%
Compare SSB June 2018 1st year: 1.68% pa*

* if you only hold it for 3 or 6 or 9 months you still get the first year's rate. But after minusing $2 application and redemption fees it may not be worth it.

Best rate for $25k 24 months: Sing Investments & Finance 1.50% pa
Compare SSB June 2018 if held for 2 years: 1.91% pa

I can think of one reason to go for FDs - SSBs are getting heavily oversubscribed and you probably cannot buy as much as $25k. :s12:

Thanks for the updating, I like it.

Min $50k, saving account $10k.

It should be min $50K, saving account $5K.

Thus you deposit $55K, you get $50K * 1.65% =$825 after 2nd days of your deposit date. Need not wait for a year.

$825/$55,000 * 100% = 1.5%

You may also get a small amount of interest at saving account $5K after a year.

Don't know if the online rates quoted is real time or lag behind.

But these days the Malaysian banks are not so generous as before le.
