not as specialised as setting up a honeypot....but I am setting up my own local pentest environment.For learning.

You can check out the Honeeepi project which is a modified Linux image containing various honeypot projects for Raspberry Pi. I think it's a great idea to run honeypot on Raspberry Pi because you can just plug it into some networks you want to play with and it's easier to manage as well.

Thanks, this is really helpful. I think this is most cost effective solution by using raspberry pi rather than own a server for testing purpose.

How much you spend to setup for your pentest enviroment? What are the appliances incude in your pentest lab?

actually you don't need to spend much on a pentest environment
You need a decent "powerful" machine with lots of RAM to run VM
get a VM license
Get the VM workstation Pro version where you could run multiple VM on the same machine for the pen test tools - alot are actual free to download to test

Mine is nothing fanciful....

Set up on a laptop with 16GB RAM and SSD....using Virtualbox because free.

What to include depends on what you want to do and the environment you want to play in....web server,database server,mail server,software firewall/IDS maybe....Windows/Linux-based OS.

The usual problem with the above is that most Windows software are not free legally....so you need to get creative to get hold of them.
