Hi.

May i know will it be too cold to travel to Osaka and Tokyo with kids 6 and 9 years old from 15dec to 30dec? Will many attraction/places closed due to winter at this period of time? Too cold to walk in streets? As for Disneyland, will all the station be open? Too cold for queuing and waiting for rides?
Is it better to go from late Nov to mid Dec? Or actually no differences?

Just wear enough layers, and you and your kids will be fine.

Tokyo and Osaka don't have any attractions that close during winter AFAIK, but most places (including shops and malls) certainly close earlier for the days during winter season. That's something to bear in mind when planning the itinerary.

Yes...agree.
In case you need extra warm clothing, Tokyo has a wide selection of relatively cheap cold wear too.
There's also second hand shops selling really cheap clothes which are almost new.
I bought a winter wear for $12 (SGD)!
It looked so new and it smelled so clean too.
Hi, I will be going in the mid December. Can you share which area I can buy them? Thanks

Are you referring to the 2nd hand shop?
The one I been to is at Asakusa.
It is called Tanpopo House.
It is opened 10 am to 8pm.
I went there a few times and bought lots of stuff!
Some of the skirts only cost 105 yen!

When I was there in early Feb, they were selling lots of winter clothes.

But when I went there recently last month, they were not selling winter clothes as it is summer, so they sell summer clothes!

It is very near Sensoji and Nakamise in Asakusa.

They also have a branch in Shinjuku which I have not been to yet.

There are other 2nd shops elsewhere.

Thanks for the map and info! I'm staying at red planet this coming November, so will pass by this shop everyday. Gonna see if there's any winter shoes to buy for my Hokkaido trip next year. :D

I stayed at Red Planet Asakusa twice!
Lovely hotel.
I like their beds and blankets, so comfy!
And the price is very reasonable too.
And best of all, it is a non- smoking hotel.
That 2nd hand clothes shop is a few doors to the left of the hotel when u exit it.

The biggest draw for me about red planet is that I get the birthday discount if I stay during my birthday month, which is a pretty substantial amount of savings. =:p

Didn't know about that!
How much savings and how to get it?
I suppose you will need to book through the hotel website?

Ya just sign up to be their member. Membership is FOC. Once you submit your personal details and book during your birthday month, their website will auto include the 25% birthday discount in the final price.

Good to know. Is that for your birthday only or for your whole stay?

For the whole stay. Even if your duration of stay doesn't include your birthday itself, as long as the stay is in the same month of your birthday, you'll get the discount.

For example, my upcoming trip starts only after my birthday, but since November is my birthday month, I got the birthday discount for the entire stay.

Will be around 10c or less. Prepare thick clothings and use layering method in case 2 or 3 layers of clothes are not enough.

Osaka to Tokyo

Hi

What is the best way to travel from Osaka to Tokyo with young children and big luggages? Bullet Train or domestic flight? Which is cheaper and faster?

no, smaller luggage can be place above the seats, bigger ones have to put at the last seat
