Shouldn't be that slow. Check your power saving settings. You're on SSD right?

Doubt this needs mentioning but the first 1-2 days (depending on your usage) will be very slow, since a lot of windows update will be done in the background. Best is just to leave your unit on for like 5-6 hours, restart whenever they prompt (should be 2-3 times), then settle liao.

Sounds the most legit reason, but it is almost one week. Slight improvements. Will monitor ... Thanks!

I believe you bought an UltraBook, i.e. very slim laptop. I normally don't recommend getting the i7 8550U because there is no perceivable improvement over the lower end i5 8250U. The main issue is the power and thermal constraints on these ultra low power CPU.

In any case, the problem that you describe where you have to wait for for few seconds for an app to launch, don't sound like a CPU problem. Is the laptop running a solid state disk? May be if you can share the specs, it will be easier to pin point the culprit.

Exactly. In fact, an aggressively profiled i5 8250U can outperform the i7 8550U. It's all up to the manufacturer to decide. That's why I've been saying for ages, for U-class CPUs, there's no difference between i5 and i7

Is there a way to reprofile my i7 8550 to boost its performance consistently?

Am using it as a desktop replacement actually

Hdd longer lifespan and nore reliable. Didnt have good experience with SSDs

Then may have to get use for slowness.

Hmm.. still hesitate to use SSD.
Just unlucky as some SSD may not be good..

As my 1st Samsung EVO 750 SSD 250GB failed even before using but able to RMA 1 to 1 as replacement is still good.
End up bought another Samsung EVO 750 500GB and other brands SSD.. no problem.
So far all my SSD still working although trashing some as overwrite several times.

Whereas now decided to remove DVD-drive replace to HDD CD-caddy for HDD as additional storage space mainly for data.
The OS & software are in SSD for faster access.

Intel U series running on Windows 10 on HDD is slow.
I also face the same issue but it's a Lenovo one.
SSD may help but take note warranty may void
if HDD is change.

I change from Intel u to Intel h series Dell G3 SSD + HDD
so far OK but still Windows 10 tend to crawl sometimes.
Was advice not to change HDD if not warranty void.

No slowness issues on an nuc6i5syh dual core (laptop hardware in a box) with a 840 evo / 960 pro.
