I would suggest you upgrade the DDR3 to 16GB.

The CPU+MB is still good enough unless you are CPU-limited in games which is rather unlikely. I went from i7-4790K to i7-8700K and noticed zero difference. Went back to Haswell, now on i5-4690K.

As for the GPU, depends on your monitor resolution and FPS you are currently getting.

Make it 16gb RAM and call it a day. Upgrade GPU only if you got games you can't hit good frame rate.

What resolution are you playing at between both platforms for you to say no difference? I'm keen to cause not sure to upgrade 6700k to 9700k/9900k?

Thanks!

You can monitor CPU and GPU usage to decide which to upgrade. The 9th series look interesting though, if the rumors about performance are accurate.

It depend on the titles you play and work you do.

For instance, if you are looking to play common esports or mmo titles with 144HZ monitor. Your setup will require better CPU to sustain minimum 144 fps as these titles often do not benefit from an even better GPU once the has been reached.

Other 'hardcore gamer' titles like battlefield you probably want a better GPU to be able to attain higher framerates.

In the case which you are into productivity, you could consider a ryzen cpu/mb + ram to improve your compiling, enconding or decrypting times.. whichever you work on.

If you are into heavy multitasking like my friend and play games while compiling his videos.. may consider ryzen too as it has great multicore price / performance ratio.

Hope this is useful for you.

h97m pro4 is the model of a particular Asrock MB. You can also consider Z87 or Z97 for OC.
