I be brief about what I think of Logitech Z625/Z623 since both speakers
are identical. Except that the newer version Z625 comes with Optical/SPDIF
input which is useful for console/TV.

Please take note that my testing involves a soundcard so not onboard soundcard. If you are using with onboard sound, the sound quality
maybe different than with a soundcard.

My setup as follows:
Dell G3 i7 geforce 1050 SSD+1TB HDD
Sound Blaster X-fi Premium Music (RCA and optical output)
Logitech Z625

Build/Size

The left and right side speaker are plastic material and they are of decent size so can place beside monitor and etc. nicely.
The sub wise is really massive, it is wood material and you can except really big and deep bass coming out from it.

Initial testing issues

As I am using a soundcard, I face a issue that if I set to 100% for my PC volume. The sound is really loud that I had to tune it down to 50%
and on the speaker itself is 50%.
The bass is really loud and thumping when the knob is turned all the way to 100%.
That I had to turned it down to about 60% as the bass is really loud.

Music

TBH Logitech Z623/Z625 is tuned more for movies/games than music.
Music wise is OK especially the deep thumping bass.
Mids are OK but if compare with Klispch Promedia.
Promedia mids are much better than Logitech Z625.
Bass wise Logitech Z625 wins over Promedia.

Movies

This is where Z625 shines, effects like rumbling, tremble and etc.
The subwoofer really exceed in creating the effects.
The speaker also able to create a expansive sound stage
thus surround effect can be heard.

Games

Playing games like first person shooter, thanks to it's impressive bass.
Gun shot, explosion thanks to it's sub.
It's effects are loud and deep.
The speaker also able to create expansive surround environment.

You can hear enemies from either left or right channel.

Overall

PC 2.1 speaker choices are really limited.
There is Klipsch promedia but I gave up on it.
And Logitech Z625 which for so long I never wait to give it try
until now.

Since most know it as a heavy bass type of speaker which is true.
The mids are not that as great as compare with Klipsh promedia
or 2.0 speakers.

A tip is don't adjust the bass all the way if not the bass will just overpower
the mids and etc.
Logitech Z625 for movies and games are great.

However if you are serious music listening, you can get a set of this speaker
than get another bookshelf 2.0 for that purpose.
These days to me it is hard to find a speaker that are all rounder.

Between RCA and Optical, Optical sound much clearer than RCA so
if your PC support optical do use it.
Any question feel free to ask or discuss.

Actually PC speakers choices are very limited.
$26X - Logitech Z625
$399 - Klispch promedia BT not the old version
$450 - Aego M

Other than that I have to test speakers like Swan
which one thread constantly there are people talking about.
Creative speakers I won't recommend, SQ is there but
their products usually are not build to last.

Some Katana users their speaker are starting to fail within a
year....
FYI I brought the Logitech Z625 during past IT show at $16X
really a steal at such a price.

I only share about 2.1 speakers, 2.0 speaker wise will be
another time.
Cheers.

What trouble did you encounter with the Promedia 2.1?

The old promedia 2.1 with THX cert not the new one.
Crossover issue, weird bass which can be corrected if you got a
soundcard with sub crossover adjustment.

Otherwise the bass can be off or distorted in some cases.
Logitech Z625 so far no issue with the bass but advice not
to adjust all the way.

The new promedia 2.1 BT have not tested it yet.
However why I choose Logitech Z625 over promedia is
due to optical input as well Z625 have more input.

cheers

Not possible, the cable for one side is Serial type so not possible.
Anyway Z625 is more for gaming/movies than music.
Even if you can change, the music SQ won't improve.

Rather have other bookshelf speaker for music listening and this
for games/movies.

Update as of 10/01/2019.

Decided to sell this speaker, it is a good speaker but
not suited at my taste.
Primary is due to the heavy bass seriously, even my parents/neighbor
complain about it. :s22:

Sounds like thump, is really earth shaking almost as loud
as my AVR with 5.1. However compare with AVR and 5.1 setup.
The sound isn't balanced when you turn the bass all the way.

As mention:
- Volume knob should not turned all the way. Probably around 12" clock
- Bass knob also around 12" or slighter more
- Users with soundcard like myself, windows volume is set at about 60%.

Than the sound is balanced but the mid is disappointing.
Take note this is THX Certified speaker thus the SQ tuned to THX standards.
Anyway sold to someone, if the user play games/movies Z625
will shine.

For myself I am more towards music, thought this speaker is suitable
but not. :s22:
Not sure what to play around next? Logitech Z533 is not available
in SG if not will want to try that.

The best active speaker from Logitech that I used was Z5500 was a 5.1 other than that series nothing is great already dunno why they discontinue it

I won't recommend logitech 2.1 speakers. I bought a set Z333 in year 2015. After 1 year of use, the volume knob became loose and unable to adjust volume firmly. Always gave off scratching sound while adjusting.

Also, I won't recommend Creative products as they are just 1 year life span only - had a set of speakers by them Inspire xxxx forgot its model no and spoilt after 1+ year.

Still thinking now to buy Edifier S2000 Pro at S$569 from lazada. But its input is quite limited to optical and coaxial.

Creative speakers especially Inspire. I will recommend to stay away.
Cheap quality, not durable.
Good sound especially mid but the sub bass output is distorted
if you max the bass.

2.1 PC speaker at this era very limited choices.

When I was researching I was surprised Altec Lansing is more or less dead. When I was younger they were the BOMB for computer speakers.

Any good choices for 2.0 speakers?
