Hi guys, quick question:
probably gonna build a new rig soon and wondering which graphic card do I at least need to play games at high setting (say got low, mid, high,Max 4 tiers), on some of the 2018 games, using a 1440p 100hz monitor?

CPU probably i5 8500 4.1Ghz, with 16 gb ram and using SSD.

Thanks!

What games? That's the main question.I'd it's mostly easy games, then 1070 is enough.

But if you want to be safe, 1080ti or 2080 as a minimum

If you're only playing on high settings (not ultra), then GTX 1080 would be sufficient. You need to consider the type of game also.

For example, you can get 140fps on games such as dota 2 with GTX 970, but if you're playing Battlefield 1, then even a GTX 1080 would barely hit 100fps.

If you have a $1000 budget, go for 1080 TI on Lazada right now (Zotac Amp Extreme Core @ $1048 by Dynacore).

If not, go for 1070TI or 1080. The $499 listing on Lazada is sold out, so most 1070 TI are around $560 right now. 1080 is at around $760+, $730 if you use shopee discount code.

thanks for all the replies!

Just went to see at shopee and 2070 Armor 8G seems to be cheaper than 1070 Ti 8G and 1080 8G ?

I'm always confused about all these variant cards...

That's a good deal, don't forget you can use the shopee discount code (BIGSALE30) I think?

The difference between the variants lie simply in the cooling solution and sometimes binning. The better the cooling, the lower speed the fans need to run at and hence less noise. Of course the design differences lead to difference in non-temperature dependent noise too.

You should have heard about overclocking. Some cards come "tested" (binned) to guarantee higher speeds and that explains part of the price premium. But the difference is generally just a few percent. Doesn't matter to casual users, but it means a lot to enthusiasts.

If you don't care about all that you can simply get the cheapest cards around. They are the same chip.

1070Ti

Saw a ZOTAC 1070Ti on Carousell going for 420 SGD with warranty till Jan 2023. While it may be used to be a mining set, given its price and warranty length, would it be a better deal?

Just looking out for a bro, not advertising. Thinking about pulling the trigger on this 1070Ti as well.

Considering this 11/11 sale its possible to get a bnib 1070ti for sub $500 after discount, $420 isnt that much of an attractive price for a mined card. Yes, 4 yr+ warranty duration still available for the used card but ultimately its up to the buyer to decide whether its worth it or not.

Used cards are great if you need to save every penny, but sometimes they give you more problems if the seller is not completely trustworthy. Make sure to look closely to avoid headaches.

Considering how overpriced the 20 series is in Singapore, yea, good deal. If you miss this chance you're probably getting this particular card at $850 normal price.

You can go the facebook page of pcthemes and download the price list to have an idea of what the normal price is like for retail.

If you import it from Amazon, it would cost you $880.

I'm still using 980TI for 1440p.
