no tks i playing tomb raider on my $5000 pc better got dolby atmos sound effects

Haha Nvidia Shield is not geared toward hard core gaming.

I am not playing games myself — used to play very old games on Wii, NDS Lite or on emulator, and only occasionally.

For those interested to buy Nvidia shield TV, you could buy from Newegg at S$163.99 after discount code NEWEGG2018SGP ($30 off $70+). Better buy fast as Nvidia shield TV ran out of stock yesterday.

Official news:

https://www.channelnewsasia.com/new...viders-block-access-tv-box-10962528?cid=fbcna

SINGAPORE: The High Court has ordered Internet service providers to block access to TV box applications that allow users to stream and download content like movies, TV shows and live sports channels.

This follows the hearing of a motion filed in October by Singnet, Fox Networks Group Singapore, NGC Network Asia, Fox International Channels (US) and The Football Association Premier League.
Such apps "flagrantly infringe copyright by acting as gateways to websites streaming pirated content", ...

"These apps are preloaded on TV boxes which are overtly sold in retail outlets such as Sim Lim Square, IT exhibitions and on popular e-markets," CAP added.

The motion was heard in the High Court on Nov 2, and Judicial Commissioner Dedar Singh Gill subsequently granted the proposed orders against eight authentication server domains.
...

One app subjected to the blocking order is UBTV, a pre-loaded application owned by China-based company Unblock Tech, said CAP general manager Neil Gane.
...

I am new here so what I say may not make sense.
I got an Android TV box from Malaysia and have been watching the American TV channels until this court decision a few days ago.
Now I cannot get any access or use the TV box anymore.
Is there any way to get around this and watch my favourite US TV channels.

What is the name of your box and your apps?

Try to change DNS settings in your box or your router to Google DNS server 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 to see if that makes a difference.

Should be a good start, build quality will be so so and it runs an unofficial Android TV OS, no Chromecast, YouTube 4K yes, Netflix HD is not true as claimed since I believe Netflix blocked unofficial Android TV already. If you need Netflix go to Mi Box, Mi Box S or Nvidia Shield TV.

Still it should be a pretty good box to start and it is one of the more popular S912 based boxes.

I'm currently deciding between the Mecool M8S Pro L and the Tanix TX92, both around $80+ on Lazada. Would you recommend one over the other? Thanks alot for the help!

Mecool S$84 version is for 3GB/16GB variation, 3GB/32GB version is at S$94.

Tanix got two models TX9 Pro and TX92 at very similar spec and similar price, 3GB/32GB.

From what I read, Mecool model is more popular, mostly due to the unofficial Android TV and the initial unofficial support of Netflix 720p/1080p, (cat and mouse game between MeCool and Netflix ).

In fact MeCool just got a new model MeCool K9M, latest Amlogic S905X2 CPU with unofficial Android TV and unofficial support of Netflix 4K.

MeCool seems to be pretty good at unofficial Android TV OS, launched K8M, M8S Pro L and M8S Pro W running unofficial Android TV OS.

If you want to try your luck with Netflix HD, you can go for MeCool M8S L. Else go to Tanix TX92 since it has 32GB of memory at the same price.

FYI: I have generic S912 based generic H96 Pro + 3GB/32GB model myself (bought from Taobao at about S$80, including shipment plus GST) and it is my best Android TV box among my 4 generic boxes (other three boxes: lousy RK3229 based R69 box 2GB/16GB S$32, pretty good S905W based X96 Mini 2GB/16GB S$42, pretty good RK3328 based H96 Max Plus 4GB/64GB at S$86 with an air mouse, including GST and shipment).

Disclaimer: recommendation is only for your reference, do not blame me if you are not happy with the box. Price is only for reference.

HW spec comparison chart:

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1EBG4tRTmgaf-zXUKg1YcoTxoERwROcYD-DU2sHjuC6o/htmlview

MeCool M8S Pro L is in the TOP 10 chart from the same author, No 8.

https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1k3_2LBJDzj6JPGw2lADwTi2qvZQpKKy6L4mO7jLm1LQ/htmlview

NVidia Shield TV is at No 1. Xiaomi Mi Box S is at No 4. MeCool M8S Pro L is at No 8.

Generic H96 Max Plus RK3328 (similar to my RK3328 Box)is at No 9. He also lists two RK3399 box at No 2 and No 3, which I think does not make much sense as YMMV for generic box.

Tanix is among the better ones in generic boxes. It should be the same for MeCool but less so. Tanix is proud to put the brand in front of the box. MeCool brand seems to be only in the back label.

Have been watching YT reviews on several Android boxes and did a search on TB and found the following:

Can I conclude that for my first Android TV Box, the 2 above will be ok choices? Only $10 bucks difference, TB prices before domestic & international shipping.
