after picking up a class 5 amp from TB, made me think about speakers from China brands.

then i started looking and gawd it a whole new world.

i've been reading up. maybe they are worth considering?

oatlon speakers
美丽安之声

there's also this scanspeak version;
https://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a1z10.5-c-s.w4002-15194216497.57.1b0d1458yfgf0t&id=584592446055

there are some reviews online too.

anyone heard or tried or read anything about them? i'm sure this is just one of the many brands avail.

very curious, and interested to test and try, instead of going for big names.

any input is much appreciated...

Any taobao amplifier to recommend for bookshelf speaker??

there's quite a lot but not much reviews or such online. there seems to be VERY LIMITED information regarding most items. a bit of a leap of faith to some extent.

but the amp i got is from Topping, built in dac, and can supposed push 75wpc, it's a class d.

i haven't gotten it yet though, and i've never actually used an amp or dac with computer speakers.

below are some links to some that might be worth a look.

If solely using bookshelf speakers, can consider the ones with tone control and using the following Class D amplifier chips such as Single TPA3116, Dual TPA3116, TAS5630, TDA7498 (a little rare for the TDA7498 to have tone control.), TDA7498E.

quick question regarding speaker stands: where can i find "decently priced" 30~40" stand or... is speaker stand just really that expensive relative to the set of speakers (presonus e5) i'm currently looking at?

The way I look at it is, speaker stands need to be heavy and sturdy and have some type of vibrational isolation in order to be effective. Otherwise, you might as well just buy the cheapest possible ones just to put them at the right height. Good speaker stands that are actually effective at extracting the most out of your speakers are simply more expensive.

Speaker stands, unlike speakers, can be used over and over again and should have longer lifespans than speakers themselves. As such, I tend to view them as an investment, and would be open to spending more on them in relation to the cost of the speakers.

to add on..

flimsy ones like the Sanus may not be able to support your heavy speakers too. might topple.

The atacama is good but make sure ( if possible) the ear is almost same level as the tweeter.

i've got some qns;

on specs sheet of amps, says 50wpc, this is for aux/cd/receiver OR speakers? if it's for speakers then continue to below.

when speakers recommended wattage (sticker on the back of the speaker), say 50w - 150w, this total OR per speaker, and what will happen if it's below or above the said recommended?

Nothing will happen just a guideline
Lower amp means not enough oomph so may distort or clip.
Usually 50w more than enough

If you want to be precise calculate speaker dB vs power required.

This goes way back to when amplifiers were shyt and lying bast@rds...

What it means is, use an amplifier with a rating of 50W to 150W

Or rather, use an amplifier that says it has 50W to 150W

This is because amplifiers in the past (heck, even now still for some) overstate their maximum output power capability by a lot. So in order to prevent speaker destruction due to underpowered amplifiers, speaker manufacturers provide a recommended amplifier rating.

Note that this rating does not mean the speaker itself is capable of handling that much power. Take this Diamond 210 for example, recommend power is 15W to 75W, however peak SPL is only 90dB. This calculates to only 2.5W - The maximum power it can handle is only 2.5W!

Someone should try listen to the PMC twenty5 21 those blew my LS50 to dust in term of bass and midrange is my first PMC had great impression of it from this....is front ported ATL technology no need to worry any reflection coming from the back wall

Try the raidho X-1, front ported as well. You will be surprised by the sound it outputs from such a small footprint.

Haha... some are satisfied with just 1 clean watt (using high sensitivity spkr).

Most of pple indoors, HDBs, etc - actually would use below 10 watt.

Yet having higher clean amp provides energy/margin for dynamics at some passage of music sources
