I have received an email from Google <no-reply@accounts.google.com>

Someone knows your password
xxxxxx@hotmail.com
Google has become aware that someone else knows your password, and we've taken steps to protect your account. Please sign back into your account now and choose a new password to secure your account.

Anyone encountered this before? Is it geniune?

Best is don't anyhow click on the links in the email

look at e full email headers. sounds like a phishing email.

anyway, I have changed my password via account setting, didn't click on the link.

One good way to ensure phishing email don’t compromise you easily is
1) Read the mail of what it means and what it need you to do.
2) Open your browser and go to that service directly.
3) Perform your action there.

This is a layman approach. For tech savvy people, read the mail headers for the actual from address.
