Laptop for uni IT freshie

Hi folks, I just want to look for some advice regarding notebook choice.

My needs:
1. Light(less than 2kg), as I need to bring it around
2. High battery durability if possible
3. Performs well with IDEs for basic use

My budget: $1200, would like to pay $1500 if really good

You don't need a powerful laptop for programming. Swift 3/5 has a good price to weight ratio

If you want longer warranty for battery, buy from the school. I know NTU's tender covers battery for three years with a replacement policy for anything lasting <30 mins, which is unheard of with consumer warranties.

Yeah. Most schools can get slightly cheaper prices for certain models + you get extra warranty support.
