I couldn't find the service manual for your ht-r395..but found the one for the ht-r393.

Found out it's using the
SII9573CTUC chip for the hdmi decoding. https://www.semiconductorstore.com/cart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=47222

It only supports 4:4:4 up to 1080.

Thanks, that was what I suspect.
Probably the amp does not support 4K.

When it comes to ps4 even latest tv or receiver may suffer flicker or black screen. Could it be hdmi cable issue also? Best get premium certified cable to try.

I am using HDMI 2.0 certified cable, investing in more
expensive cable doubt will resolve the issue.
If PS4 is connected directly to TV and there is no such issue
than the problem could be at the AVR.

I connect directly from ps4 pro to my LG sj850 TV. Tried using original ps4 hdmi cable as well as newer popular hdmi cable from aliexpress. When i touch the cable sometimes tv still will flicker and go to black (no signal). But so far no more problem as long as i don't touch the cable.

Also make sure your avr and ps4 got good ventilation and cooling space.

For hdmi cable, what cable are you using? Try to get thick insulation ones and avoid crossing over too many other cables too.

Please go try. Ensure all connected sources support too. This model have that option on the menu. Page 31 of the manual.

Also go through the hdmi settings on the player/source/tv.

I am using this cable, investing in much expensive cable
doubt will change anything.

I have Monster but that one no difference than Elecom except
the high price of more than $100.

Change to 4:4:4 than the issue will surface.
If 4:2:2 no such issue.

Anyway waiting for distro diagnostic, probably either TV (Android TV)
or I play 4K HDR content blu ray this is a basic amp so
maybe not able to handle.

Ought to invest in a better amp next time with 4K HDR processing
feature.
