2. Is it an overkill to do Mount Rokko and Mount Misen in one itinerary? (Not into hiking)

4. Wanted to go miyajima for Itsukushima shrine but it's under construction. Still worth a trip?

5. Miyajima ropeway closes at 5pm. How do I get down afterwards? Sorry daft question again :s13:

6. Gf birthday is on 9 Nov. Will Hakone be a nice place for her?

7. On 8Nov, should I stay Hiroshima or Miyajima.

All feedback welcome!

Did you look at the map when you did the planning?

Most attractions on Mt Rokko close at 4pm/4.30pm.

Why do a day trip to Kyoto when you are based in Osaka for the 1st few days when after that you are doing to Kyoto for a few nights?

Did you look at the various passes when you did the planning?

There's the Himeji Tourist pass which includes a one way Nankai to Namba ticket + a day pass for Hanshin Electric Railway and Sanyo Electric Railway (for Kobe and Himeji).

Thanks guys for the feedback.

From your feedback on Mount Rokko, i'll amend it to just roam around Kobe.

I wanted to start the trip with Osaka for 3 days (including USJ) then move to Kyoto but realized by doing that, USJ would fall on a Sunday. Hence i'm doing a day trip so USJ would fall on a Monday (4 Nov) and be less crowded. Does it make sense? Or is there a better solution?

Yeah I did reference to google maps and use Japan guide. I think i got overboard taking bits and pieces of people's itinerary in this forum :s22: Can you point out my mistakes? :o

Thanks for the tip on the Himeji Tourist pass - I'll relook into the various passes. I thought the JR pass will cover my 'long' journeys (to Himeji, Hiroshima and then Odawara) as well as the JR train lines, so the other train fares will be relatively cheap but i'll relook into it.

You are going to Hiroshima which is away from Tokyo then to Tokyo. Why don't you start your trip with Hiroshima? Hiroshima to Osaka to Kyoto to Tokyo. Or skip the stay in Kyoto and make day trips to Kyoto.

There are quite a few rail companies in Japan. The JR train station in the various cities may not be the most convenient. If you are doing Hiroshima and Tokyo, it probably make sense to get the JR pass.

There's the Hankyu which is less than S$10. You can use that to get to the Instant Noodles Museum + Arashiyama. From Arashiyama you can also go to Kawaramachi which is downtown Kyoto.

There are also several passes available for day trips to Himeji + Kobe or just Kobe. Kobe alone, the day pass is JPY 500.

There are also several type of passes for Osaka that includes the subway.

For Fushimi Inari Shrine, there's the Keihan pass.

Thanks. The various passes you gave are really helpful :D.

I'm arriving in Kansai Airport so it doesn't makes sense to go Hiroshima first if i'm using the JR pass?

My Osaka and Kyoto days are already 6+1 (kobe/himeji) day so if i'm getting the JR pass, i need to get the 14days one which is pricey.

Planned the trip such that the JR pass will cover all the long journeys. Maybe i'm missing something here?

a one way ticket from osaka to tokyo on klook is approx. $188.
There's the option of 2 days JR West Kansai pass for JPY 4300 / $55 which you can use for Hiroshima.

you really have a lot to research on and plan.

you can also do kyoto first then osaka.

Hi Evilerniex,

How would you rearrange the itinerary if you were me?

Already have my air tickets booked to Kansai Airport and flying out from Haneda Airport.

Should I skip Hiroshima/Miyajima altogether as it seems to be out of the way? :s22:

You could do a day at Nara instead of at Hiroshima. Or you can do Nagoya.

Mt Takao is nice too, from Tokyo.

Like others have mentioned, some of ur days too packed. For example, day 1 if u touch down at 845am, by the time u clear immigration is probably abt 9:30 at least. And it takes 1hr to get to osaka from KIX. So it is not possible to check in at 10am. Traveling to cup noodle museum takes time to. Ikeda station is a bit out of the way, and need to walk a bit iirc.

I would take out Hiroshima. More time for other places. Especially since ur itinerary so packed, u probably wun be able to cover everything that u planned. So best to have more days and space things out

If u are cutting out Hiroshima. U will probably not require 7-day JR pass since u only making single trip from osaka to Tokyo.

Since you're also going fuji-hakone, then just skip miyajima.

Then you won't need the 7d jr pass and can take nozomi shinkansen.

Osaka 1 Nov and 2 Nov are both very ambitious.

Multiples sites and little time per site

Kyoto Nov 3also very crazy to me. Somemore Autumn daylight time very short maybe around 4pm will be pretty dark, so temples might not be enjoyable after 3pm?

Nov 5 Day Trip, Also very ambitious planning. Normally for Day Trip i will only do one city not both... Your planning is really touch and go, super rushing

Nov 7. Taxi from Arashiyama to Kinkakuji will cost quite a bit

Nov 8. Can scrap the whole thing already. Miyama without Itsukushima shrine will not be worthwhile to go. I been there so many times but now not going there again until they can finish renovation

Nov 9. as mentioned before Autumn very short daylight...So you go hakone open air museum when the it is night fall already. It is something like 8pm in Singapore type at 4pm-5pm
Best is go check when it is possible and enjoy the onsen facilities...
Not sure whether you got even time to do Lake Ashinoko (You going to do round course?)

Nov 10. not sure. Music Forest is not worth going. Only thing worthwhile is seeing Mount Fuji. But that must see your luck. So depends, you can check forecast on 9 Nov, if cloudy just skip whole thing and return to Tokyo.

Nov 11. Yoyogi Park not worthwhile going.

Nov 12 You should put skytree before Asakusa. They open at 8am. Skytree is also close to asakusa. Finish Asakusa by lunch time 9-12. Then go Ueno Park whole day, your plan seems quite weird to do only Ueno Park 1 hour? If seeing parks nothing much but it is the museums or zoo in the Park that people go...
Do Ueno Park + National Museum until 5pm. Then go for Dinner, Skip Shinjuku and also skip Kabukicho. If you want go Kabukicho, don't bring your girlfriend. I presume you know what is Kabukicho..red light

Nov 13 Very Very ambitious on your last day. 13 Nov wed is one of the "Off" day for Tsukiji outer market. So you might be disappointed...

Thanks for the feedback guys. I've relaxed the itinerary.

I've replaced Hakone Open Air Museum with Lake Ashinoko. Is that okay? Can do either one.

Took away Ueno park and replaced it with Sumida park which is near Tokyo skytree.

Also moved Tsukiji outer market to 12 Nov (hopefully it's not their 'off' day?)

I'll get the one way jr pass or use Smart EX app to book discounted shinkansen ticket to Odawara for Hakone and i'll research more on the various passes in the meantime.

If you guys can share which passes are relevant and your 2 cents on the updated itinerary, i'll be most grateful :)

Sumida park doesn't really have much tbh. I went there while heading towards skytree, but left with disappointment. It's just a small park with a bridge over small pond. I didn't really see anyone there except just a few couples queueing up to take bridal photoshoot on the bridge.

Your plan is quite ambitious and also a bit weird. You are going for Kyoto day trip from Osaka but a few days later you are staying there anyway(?)

From Hiroshima/Miyajima to Hakone is super long and tiring. Maybe drop this and spend more time in Kyoto and Nara instead.

USJ on Tuesday should have lesser crowd compared to Mondays.

Arima onsen is not that straightforward to reach so if you're going to Hakone/Kawaguchiko, you can skip this.

5 Nov: Meriken Park at 3pm? I think at night better, maybe can change to Chinatown if you want to.

8 Nov: 5~7pm rest at hotel :s22: Why nt straight at night go to Odawara rest on the train, stay hotel near the station, so next day wont be so rushing.

13 Nov: Sumida Park can just cancel off, go Ameyoko if u want to. Is Skytree a must? Since u spending evening at Shinjuku, can just go to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observation deck, free.

Overall looks like covering alot but very tiring, not sure if you can last the pace thru out.

We have no interest in Chinatown :s13: Maybe i go Harborland and then head to Meriken park later?

8 Nov: 5~7pm rest at hotel :s22: Why nt straight at night go to Odawara rest on the train, stay hotel near the station, so next day wont be so rushing.

I took the idea off inside kyoto itinerary, assuming we'll be tired after all the temple visitation =:p Because it's my gf birthday on 9 Nov, i'm booking a ryokan for her. It's gonna be out of budget for 2 nights and if i'm booking another accommodation at Hakone, we gotta change accommodation twice at Hakone. Thanks for the idea though!

13 Nov: Sumida Park can just cancel off, go Ameyoko if u want to. Is Skytree a must? Since u spending evening at Shinjuku, can just go to Tokyo Metropolitan Government Building observation deck, free.

Like another brother here suggested, will take out Sumida Park

Thanks for another good point raised. Understand that Tokyo Metropolitan Govt Building is free and it's similar but we just want to experience Tokyo Skytree ourselves :s13:

Overall looks like covering alot but very tiring, not sure if you can last the pace thru out.

What would you have taken out if you were me? :o
