Hi all, is it a must to do that?
Googled quite abit, saw ppl mentioned, aircon for car no need service or do flushing, no issue dont touch.

But there are also some ppl mentioned, it is good to do aircon flush every 40k. As aircon is using compressor oil, it gets dirty as time goes by. It is running daily as we run the car. Just like engine oil.

Doing aircon flush is able to clean & flush the system, drain old compressor oil, drain old gas, high pressure to vacuum out the dirty metal impurities, pump in new oil & new gas.

What do you guys think? Market price is about $70-$80.

After flushing, will aircon be colder? Will it help with the musky smell on initial start up of the aircon? Will the air be stronger?

Any advises? What about air con service? Remove the coil to clean? :s11:

For flushing, saw there is this machine that does all the works.
Is it effective? Car already 10 years old, close to 11.
Do you think I should give it a try?

Anyone did the flushing or aircon service before can advise?

Aircon coolant makes the air cooler, the compressor makes the air cool, the musky smell probably due to the dirt inside the vents, I normally hold my breath when the a/c starts, to let the 'stale' overnight air blow out then I start breathing.

Your air-con internals have turned moldy. The best way is to chemically clean them.

your house aircon got change compressor oil?
same rt... periodically check gas level during servicing and only top-up when needed.

The amt you spend to do aircon service (for car), by the time the aircon got problem... prob around same cost as replacing compressor.

My previous car 9 years never service aircon also never spoil.

maybe i could share from my humble experience in JB.

aircon servicing, means topping up of gas.
cleaning of the vents etc, air blown / water / chemical etc

check/cleaning of motor etc.

could be done in 1 hour to few hours job.
depending the car and condition.

best is to do every 2 years, its pretty cheap to do in JB.

The after effect is good.. breathe cleaner, air con more cold and cooling

i can share if you guys are keen.

I did aircon servicing, and i prefer to doit in JB also. Once did at Singapore, at a well known recommended place but with a unsatisfactory result. Claim to change the compressor oil as part of the servicing but they only top up gas and done.

Did it at JB at a recommended place, from one of the threads here. They change the oil using a machine, top up gas, recommend some stuff to be replaced and they give a before and after temp reading. Takes a few hours, but the workmanship is good with proven results.

I did those ac flush by machine on previous ride. My conclusion is.

Pray that you get a mechanic/tech who know what he's doing. Operating that machine I believe, many has no issue.

All will said it is fully automatic.
I know it is only to certain extent.

A trained and qualified tech operating will be fine. He can tell if certain reading is out. Otherwise, not only the compressor damage. Other delicate components may or will get damaged without initial sign.

I was told, the preparation and to ensure no air gets into the ac system is paramount. If any air not completely removed. Water vapour will become icelet and will damage the compressor and other associated parts over long usage.
