The new generation of Seiko 5 Sports watches are inspired by the colorful, youth-embracing watches of the brand’s past. While there are a huge variety of watches in the collection (27 references in all) they are brought together by a few common factors, including use of the hacking and hand winding 4R36 movement, and a sporty case and general design that bears more than a passing resemblance to a certain iconic Seiko diver.
TECHNICAL SPECIFICATIONS – SEIKO 5 SPORTS
Case: 42.5㎜ in diameter x 13.5mm thick - stainless steel - 46㎜ lug to lug -
Hardlex crystal - see-through caseback - unidirectional rotating bezel - 100m water-resistant
Dial: many different dial and hand colours - day and date window - Lumibrite on hands and indices
Movement: Seiko calibre 4R36 - automatic with manual winding capacity - +45 to -35 seconds per day - 41h power reserve - stop-seconds
Bracelet: steel 3-link bracelet - three-fold clasp with secure lock and push-button release
It seem Seiko want the youngster to buy their watch.
Will it be a hit or miss?
