It's coming soon. The company’s GM Lu Weibing revealed an early look at the Redmi K30 during the launch presentation for the Redmi 8 in China.

In addition to the 5G support, the phone will also come with a punch display which would be a first from Xiaomi. Weibing shared a teaser of the device on his Weibo profile and it appears to have a similar setup to the Samsung Galaxy S10+ with a dual front camera in the top right corner.

Moving on to the other known info, the K30 will come with dual 5G support. This means it will work with both SA (Standalone mode) and the NSA (non-standalone) networking with the latter still relying on existing LTE infrastructure for some tasks such as communication between cell towers and servers. This will allow for better connectivity and lower costs of 5G deployment in new areas.

In terms of pricing, Weibing mentioned that the K30 will not be the most affordable 5G phone but will still follow the cost-effective nature of the Redmi brand. According to some speculation, the phone will ship wit the upcoming Qualcomm 7250 chipset which supports dual-mode 5G.

Wonder if they source the punchhole display from Samsung or some Chinese display firm..

Honor will be launching punchhole display on their Honor View30 too, and it's said to be from BOE.

looks pretty similar to S10+. The punch hole is on the right side. Shall look forward to that. Hopefully, it can come with wireless charging too.

after eliminating the notch/hole with a popup selfie cam with the K20 series, why have they "regressed" to this for K30 series?

Prefer the popup camera on the k20 cause screen space. Selfie camera I guess is for new real identity face unlock that mandatory in China now.

off-topic, but hey, remember the 10 year challenge meme in social media? it was reckoned that it was used by a nation-state in order to prime its artificial intelligence system for recognising faces even as they age 10 years. nifty huh?

Rumours that new SIM card will store biometrics and can't unlock phone if the biometrics doesn't match up. Btw buying a sim card required ID in China.

See the huge number of CCTVs at your train stations. In this era, CCTVs are nothing strange anymore.... If you are a good man, nothing to hide at all. Privacy? Too over-rated in this Internet era. Just like some keep on saying how good stock Android is....
