Hi everyone,

I've been reading the threads, but am still not too sure which is better, so hoping you experienced travellers here can advise me.

I'm looking to go Macau for a short 3D2N trip in Nov, mainly to see the water show, Macau tower bungy and batman ride+ferris wheel.

I saw the direct flight via scoot to Macau airport is about 370, while direct flight to HK is about 260ish for SQ. I was thinking to go via HK and take the Skypier ferry at the airport (if I'm googling it correctly?) to Macau instead since it's seems cheaper, but does anyone have any experience and advice on this? I'm a female traveller so I would like to avoid leaving HK airport since it's the protest and all.

Should I change to HK dollars in Macau or change to Macau currency? Just wanted to be sure, since it's a few years ago since I last went to HK and never been to Macau.

And does the casino shuttles buses allow non hotel guests on board too? Since I'm solo-ing, I probably won't stay in a casino hotel due to price.

Thanks!

The one way ferry ticket cost HKD 270 which is almost SGD 50. Worth the hassle and time?

Casino shuttles can take without any issues. no questions asked.

Change only the amount that you can spend. Mostly not accepted outside of Macau.

Another alternative from hkia to Macau is to take bus over the hzmb bridge.

Sorry to hijack this page. i've already done up my research and in 2 weeks time i'll be travelling from HK airport direct to Macau for 1 night. The difference between now and last time was i took Turboject about 6 years ago as i believe there were much more timing options.
for HK Airport to Macau via Turboject is only 2 timing 11am and 4pm.. as i'm arriving 11+am, i dont want to wait till 4pm.
Thus i've kinda made up my mind to take the bus instead to go to macau main land, then take free bus to Cotai where my hotel is.
Can advise if this is a good approach?
Another way is to travel to the nearest Ferry terminal and go to Macau from there.

any advise would be greatly appreciated !! TIA !

In January I went to zhuhai and returned from Macau to HK in a day. Frequency of the hzmb buses is every 15 minutes.

I believe there are only 3 sailings a day via Skypier to Macau- 11:00 16:15 (Cotai), 18:00.
Simply take the coach. There are direct services from Terminal 2 to The Venetian via the HZMB.

Don't bother to change for Macau MOPs. Use HKD and when you receive change in MOPs, remember to get rid of them before you depart.

Thanks for all the tip. Currently in Macau since yesterday. Was very smooth when taking bus from HK airport to Macau.weekdays seem to make a huge difference plus the current ongoing protest.

Is there a limit to luggage size for taking the bus?

There's hzm terminal near HK airport. There's bus services going to Zhuhai and Macau. From airport 5 minute bus ride to the terminal.

This is two years late but I finally went to Macau... šŸ˜… Just sharing some quick tips after. Everyone's advice here is spot on btw, it was really helpful so thanks again!!

- Turbojet ferry from HK is fast and easy. But definitely buy tickets in advance. Bought from Klook, they cancelled the booking after payment because early timings were sold out so had to rebuy until actual confirmation. Saw a few people standing at the standby queue while I was waiting to board so you can try standby I guess if really no ticket on the date itself?

- Stayed at Ibis as it is a 5 minutes walk to the turbojet ferry terminal. There is a MCD there so can have breakfast while waiting. Lots of space to store your luggage at the racks at the front of the ferry. At arrival, head for the casino bus area and take the one closest to your hotel for convenience if you're not taking a taxi.

- No need to change MOP per earlier advice. Just use HKD in Macau, change given back in MOP (did this at a 7-eleven) and spend your loose MOP before leaving.

- The public bus is quite convenient and a flat 6 MOP per trip for places the casino shuttles don't go. You need exact change. I got yelled at by a grouchy bus driver because I didn't have exact change so just dump your coins in and move on lol.

- Cotai area where the casinos are, are more lively but the hotels are completely packed full of China tourists. I stayed at Macau area which was quieter but it was not as convenient as Cotai area.

- There is a MGM shuttle that goes Macau - Macau Tower - Cotai. Take it to go Macau Tower conveniently. The bungy is packed most days. Book in advance if you want to bungy. Be prepared to wait. The bungy itself is fast but most jumpers stand at the edge for ages.... One stood there for almost an hour so have some games ready on your phone lol.

- Took scoot back since it's direct from Macau airport. The airport is pretty bare bones so don't go early there unless you have a lounge pass. Flight was packed, maybe consider paying for seat selection in advance.

- Carry your passport along if you're going to any casinos. I got asked for my passport by security at one casino, because i was cutting through the casino to get to the other side faster.

Hope this was helpful!
