I just replaced the HDD with a SSD on my 2017 Shield Pro recently. Waiting to see if this 2019 Pro supports Atmos on Netflix..

cant believe they make it a hardware thing to support dolby vision and atmos when it is a software thing. people like me stuck with the old model where the hardware is perfectly capable of vision and atmos, except it does not have licence to play it

In the above, you're comparing the UK Shield (standard version) price vs US Shield (Pro version) price.

If it's the Shield Pro for both, it's GBP 199.99 (SGD 350) and USD 199.99 (SGD 272) before International shipping.

Huge difference there!

Note there are 2 Shields now, the cylinder looking one (USD 149) and the pro one (USD 199).

Btw the sample clips on YouTube for the new AI-enabled 4k upscaling feature is very impressive and works for all apps/videos.

Has anyone purchased and started to use the Shield TV (cylindrical)? Was intending to get from Amazon US, but not sure if the built in power supply is compatible here.

This is the standard shield TV (cylindrical version). Search for "Shield TV Pro" (box device), it's GBP 199.99 including Vat.

2019 Specs = 2017 Specs

Where is the 25% extra oomph?

The benchmark app may not recognize the new CPU chip well. It may take time for FW to get mature to utilize the full potential of the new CPU.

That being said the highlight of the new 2019 compared to the 2017 version, should not be on the performance increase, rather it should be Dolby Vision support, and Dolby Atmos support for Netflix. You can say that two limitations are the major shortcomings of the 2015/2017 version. The new remote is also better than the old one.
