Must go for first timer in KH.
Tiger & Dragon Pagoda, Big Lotus Pond, Big Buddha Statue, 旗津 for seafood. Fomosa MRT for the nice interior photogenic shots.

Liouhe and Ruifeng night market.
Pick an hotel in KH serving both bf/supper buffet for value for money.
I got my hotel near fomosa MRT for family of 4 for S$57 (hotel reviews: 8+).

For shopping, Dream Mall got a roof top amusement park with huge Farris Wheel. 新崛江 is their commercial district with few shopping malls.

The rest of places of interest is could be too artistic for average person. After all, KH is just another Johor to Singaporean.

PS: As humid as SG, afternoon as hot as SG.

KH hotel cheap, just buy a week long season pass THSR go other parts of Taiwan, travel time from KH to TP is REALLY shorter than Tampines to Jurong East.
Savings from Hotel price can cover the concession Tix difference and with extra more for spending money.

KH next to Tainan and PingTung, many traditional place of interest.

Just take Taichung and Taipei. You can skip Kaohsiung, as its places of interest very limited. Unless u like historical, cultural and religious places. My teenager kids grumble when I say i will revisit KH. To them, Fengjia and Ximending are the best hipster places in TW.

Mid January many CNY goodies stalls, esp TC.

Kaohsiung and Tainan are good places to visit. They may not be as modern as Taipei, but there are many places of interests to visit and experience. Don't just restrict yourself to Taipei/Taichung. Go enjoy the south and the eastern part of Taiwan to have a difference experience too!

After doing my research, I realised KH is pretty good :). Got theme park for me and my GF, got 2 interesting museums (Chimei & drum one) at one area :)

Got anymore to recommend?

I find Tainan Night MArket, Datong and Flower market better than Liuhe and Ruifeng.
They have a more interesting variety of food to me and less touristy.

Not all Tainan night markets open every day.. some even closed on rainy day.
Do your homework before going there.

Yes. Even the biggest night market are opened 3 to 4 days a week. Check the schedule first.

Ruifeng is closed on Monday. Monday or Sunday is a rest day for some places

Kaohsiung is not as packed as Taipei, and a much leisurely city to laze but still have similar shopping and food streets and huge malls like Taipei,

I spent 6days in Taipei, drove 3days in Cingjing/SML/Xitou, 3days in Kaohsiung. Now currently at Kaohsiung for my last night. Weather is great, various between overcast and mild sun, chilly at times throughout the day, great for leisurely strolls and street food eating.

I’m staying at Icon Hotel, inexpensive, luxurious and spacious, walking distance to several shopping districts and locals markets. Their main dishes are barley desserts, eel noodles. If you like to queue mindlessly in XMT or Jiufen for mediocre food or rush like crazy, then Kaohsiung is not for you lol. I had fun chatting with the shop owners and leisurely eating without having people constantly watching for you to leave.
