Good to have some form of comparison between private and public dental service. I recall the time taken at polyclinic for scaling and polishing (S&P) is just over 5mins!

As for fluoride treatment, personally don't think it is needed for every S&P session. It up to individual, those with weak tooth may require it more.

Recently went to Polyclinic Dental for yearly checkup and found out that most of the charges went up. Consultation used to be $15.10 but now $16. Scaling and polishing used to be $16 each but now $17.90. All amount stated are after subsidy.

found this on the 1st page.

I guess it will cost at least $75 for a PR to visit the polyclinic dental.

Regarding the time limit thingy, it's true according to this blogger which require 5 appointments for re-doing her fillings.

Below are polychinic charges for various procedures. Credit goes to blogger tonks.

Have you check with Q&M, someone mentioned it cost around $45? Was thinking of switching to private clinic for next visit as the last time to polyclinic dental cost me almost $52.

mum got merdeka card, visited a CHAS dental clinic. her condition needs to see specialist so told her to go polyclinic to get referral as Chas clinic's referral has lower subsidy rate compared to polyclinic's. anyone has experience or more info on this?

Subsidy rates should be more or less the same but treatment cost at public specialist clinic is definitely lower. Best to check with CHAS hotline directly to clear your doubt.

Got a reply from NDC:

Patients, who are Merdeka Generation (MG) card holders and who are referred from a CHAS Dental Clinic to the National Dental Centre Singapore (NDCS) for Specialist treatment, will be registered as a subsidised patients in NDCS and they will also be eligible for the additional MG subsidy of 25%. MG cardholders do not need to be referred from a polyclinic to enjoy more subsidies in NDCS.

Verdict is out: Don't need go via Polyclinic if u're eligible to see CHAS dental clinic.

Went back to the clinic that my mum went, the staff still insisted her to go polyclinic as theirs is a "Private" clinic. In the end, showed them the black n white from NDC then changed attitude liao.

Haizzz... wonder how many got blindsided by them to go Polyclinic to get referral.

Don't go to NDC. The whole bloody centre full of dentists but make you wait so many days and week to see dentist and then when start treatment, you got to go back so many times to complete the treatment.

Go private so fast can get the problem solved. This blood sucker centre is useless. Something must be done about the efficiency of this place.

more or less you are correct. My colleague walk in as a private patient for doing crowning also have to wait for 3 months.

I cannot imagine when my tooth pain that needs immediate root canal treatment and have to wait for few months..

However, cost for private dental specialist in Singapore is also quite expensive. my this year saving going to be all gone to dental treatment...:s22:
