Read here. It may not work well. But you may be able to get it work with special OpenVPN configuration.

Tips for Using NordVPN in China in November 2019

As with many other VPN providers recently, the NordVPN apps are no longer working in China. To connect to NordVPN, you will need to download special OpenVPN config files from the support article called "Connecting from a country with internet restrictions".

To find this page, open the NordVPN website, click on the help icon in the lower right hand side of the page, then choose this article from the list. If you don't see the help icon, you may have to disable your ad-blocker.

This article is available in French, German and Chinese.

In order to connect to our servers from countries with internet restrictions, please follow the steps below:

Make sure you are connecting through the Quick Connect option on our applications;

If you still cannot connect using the Quick Connect, try connecting specifically to Hong Kong, Taiwan or the United States;

If still no luck using the methods above, we have a workaround with manual connection methods.

Here are the tutorials on how to connect manually:

Windows
macOS
Android
iOS
Linux

Surfshark works in China

Latest Tips for Using Surfshark in China in November 2019

The Surfshark apps stopped working in China recently, so you will need to set up manual Shadowsocks or OpenVPN connections.

https://www.tipsforchina.com/mobile/how-to-set-up-and-use-surfshark-vpn-in-china.html

November 25, 2019 Update

The Surfshark apps were not working in China at the time this guide was originally published, but they are working now. You can try using the apps directly before following this guide, but you may want to set up manual connections anyway in case the apps stop working again.

Here are some tips for using the Surfshark apps in China.

Make sure you close any other VPN or Shadowsocks apps before starting the Surfshark app.

For Android users, download the apk file from the Surfshark website. The version from the Play Store does not work in China.
If you are having trouble logging in or loading the special server list for China, try resetting the app to default settings. Settings > Help > Diagnostics > Restore original settings.
If the apps are still not working from you, you can always follow this guide to set up manual connections.

https://www.tipsforchina.com/mobile/best-vpn-for-china.html#2_Surfshark

The author recommended the following VPN for China.

1) ExpressVPN (usually works, speed so so)

2) Surfshark (with Shadowsocks or OpenVPN configurations if not working)

3) WannaFix (Shadowsocks provider, not traditional VPN, more like proxy)

4) VPN.ac, not recommended any more by the author. Has WireGuard option.

5) NordVPN, special OpenVPN configuration

6) 12VPN, with Shadowsocks

In addition to Shadowsocks, 12VPN also offers all the latest protocols that work good in China such as Outline, WireGuard, v2Ray, and Openconnect.

7) VyprVPN, not recommended by the author any more.

##########
If you need to stay in China only for a short time, I will recommend using mobile data roaming, for example StarHub prepaid card.

For long time stay you may want to have two things at the same time, one traditional VPN and one Shadowsocks provider. You may even want to set up your own server on a VPS.

The author above only uses one SS provider WannaFix. Apparently he is not so familiar with them.

The following is a good summary for Shadowsocks/V2Ray/Wireguard/etc providers.

not necessarily haha

anyone remember getflix .. from the days of unblocking netflix via custom dns?
i got their lifetime deal back then 2015 / 2016 can't remb. they are still working heh.

PureVPN too.. tho not really recommended for security purpose.. I got their lifetime back then. in 2016 , they too still work.. in fact.. they improved quite a bit over the years.

my windscribe is on lifetime too.
i hope Windscribe doesn't overgrow itself...

Try it and let us know. :)

Maybe this is better? Life time is more or less equal to 5 years.
https://stacksocial.com/sales/ivacy-vpn-5-year-subscription

https://stacksocial.com/sales/ivacy-vpn-lifetime-subscription

5 years for US$20, one device
Life time for US$40, 5 device

At least IVacy is more well-known.

LG TV and VPN are not that easy. What is your router?

https://thevpn.guru/best-lg-smart-tv-vpn-change-webos-region/
==========
Either set up the VPN connection on your router or use a Smart DNS proxy service. In order to install a VPN on your router, the router itself needs to support VPN. In the case of Smart DNS, you’ll have to change the DNS server addresses of your LG Smart TV to those of the Smart DNS proxy service you are subscribed to.
=====

If your router does not support installation of VPN client (better ones do support), then you have very limited choices of VPN which provides Smart DNS Proxies along with the VPN service. The author mentioned two vendors which do that.

In summary the above article mentions three choices if you are not able to install the VPN on your router.
ExpressVPN
BulletVPN
Unlocator (not VPN but Smart DNS Proxies service).

=========_
If you’re looking for a VPN service provider to use with your LG Smart TV, make sure that the provider you end up choosing offers subscribers Smart DNS proxies which can be directly configured via the TV’s network settings. ExpressVPN and BulletVPN are both prime examples.

In case you are looking for a Smart DNS proxy service, you can sign up with Unlocator. They offer new users a free 7-day trial and do support unblocking around 200 channels from around the world. You can sign up for a free Unlocator trial without the need for a credit card.

Does SingTel TV Go even support EPL? Have you tried that while you were in Singapore?

I know Singtel Cast Sports Plus pack supports EPL.

If indeed Singtel TV Go supports EPL, then you may want to contact Surfshark technical support to see if they can help you.

Try the following as well.
1) Check you are indeed connected to a Singapore server.
2) Disable location services.

Then you can install the VPN client on your router. That is a very good router with good VPN performance.

Surfshark
https://support.surfshark.com/hc/en-us/articles/360003103833-How-to-set-up-a-router-with-Surfshark-

Windscribe
https://windscribe.com/guides/asus

For those who do not have a good router with VPN client support, there are other workaround as well.
