“Produce” PDs Reportedly Cited Pressure From Wanna One’s Success As Motive For Ranking Manipulation

On December 7, various media outlets reported details from the prosecution’s written indictment of Mnet producing director (PD) Ahn Joon Young and chief producer (CP) Kim Yong Bum.

According to the indictment, Ahn and Kim said that Wanna One and I.O.I’s success made them feel pressured about the subsequent success of IZ*ONE and X1. Unlike the first two seasons of the “Produce” series, which the producers have only admitted to partially manipulating, it is alleged that the final rankings of “Produce 48” and “Produce X 101” were entirely manipulated by the producers.

The investigation into Ahn’s case also revealed that he was recognized as a valuable employee by CJ ENM due to the financial success of the first two “Produce” seasons and that he received special incentives as a result.

Also according to the indictment, Ahn conspired to choose the final lineup in “Produce 48” regardless of votes when he saw that trainees whom he felt didn’t fit the concept made it in to the top ranks. In the case of “Produce X 101,” Ahn mentioned specifically X1’s long contract (five years) and their status as a boy group (inviting comparisons to Wanna One) as reasons for the manipulation of their rankings.

However, the media outlets who reported on the written indictment noted that Ahn’s testimony may not align with suspicions that he received special treatment from agencies. According to the prosecution, Ahn received this treatment 47 times from five entertainment agency representatives between January 2018 to July 2019. “Produce 48” aired from June to August 2018 and “Produce X 101” aired from May to July 2019. It has not been confirmed whether this special treatment influenced the ranking manipulation.

PRODUCE 48’s True Final Ranking Before The Votes Were Manipulated According To News Report

Ahn Joon Young, the main PD of the Produce 101 series, recently confessed that he manipulated the outcomes for all 4 seasons of the show. Prosecution soon followed up to revealed that the final lineup for PRODUCE 48 was decided on even before the audition show began airing.

As the story continues to develop, the prosecution discovered that the producers were unhappy with the 3rd round of ranking for the last 20 members and decided to disregard the public votes and manipulate the final ranking.

The top 12 members of the ranking were set to debut as IZ*ONE, but when the final public votes were received, the producers changed up the lineup because they deemed some of the top 12 members as “unfitting with the IZ*ONE concept” or simply not the trainees that they wanted to debut.

News reports revealed the alleged true ranking from the final votes, and it was very different from the ranking announced during the final episode.

AOA Fights To Survive In “Train To Busan”-Themed “Running Man” Preview

On December 8, the variety show released a preview for next week’s episode featuring the girl group, who recently made a comeback with “Come See Me.”

In the clip, the cast and guests play a game influenced by the zombie apocalypse thriller film “Train to Busan” in a train to Incheon.

The members try to become “aces of survival” in a game that tests their skills. Chanmi says, “I don’t want to lose” and Lee Kwang Soo urges Jimin to pay attention.

Hyejeong shouts in disbelief, “How do I win this?” followed by another member saying that this is all a lie. Seolhyun adds, “This isn’t the area,” alluding to the “safety zone” that is becoming narrower by the second and Yuna worries about finding a mysterious box. Jimin concludes, “I have to remove the name tag” as Lee Kwang Soo begs her not to.

JYP Entertainment Warns Fans Against Unsafe Behavior After Incident At Airport With TWICE

On December 8, JYP Entertainment released a statement warning fans against unsafe behavior like overcrowding and following artists at the airport.

Earlier that day, TWICE arrived at Gimpo International Airport after finishing their activities in Japan. Many people attempted to take photos of TWICE and as a result, Jihyo ended up tripping over a fan who had fallen on the floor.

The agency’s statement reads as follows:

Hello, this is JYPE.

Today, at Gimpo International Airport, there was an incident in which our artist fell and was hurt due to disorderly and excessive photography.

“Following artists at the airport after immigration inspection” is officially prohibited according to the blacklist rules, so engaging in this behavior will result in a ban from participating in activities like TV broadcasts. (Refer to TWICE’s blacklist rules.)

If this issue occurs again, we may have to take legal action. We are letting you know that we are looking into legal options in case this becomes a repeated issue.

Questions of safety are not only about the artists but also the fans and the general public. We ask you to keep order at official appearances and refrain from prohibited behavior like following TWICE during unofficial activities.

As a company, we are always aware when prohibited behavior like this occurs, and we are always looking into legal options for the incidents that are within the scope of the law.

As an agency, we will do our best to protect the safety of our artists.

Former I.O.I groupmates gugudan's Kim Se Jung and Cosmic Girls' Yeonjung take 'Inkigayo' backstage selfies

On December 8 KST, Kim Se Jung took to her personal Instagram to share a set of selfies with former groupmate Yoo Yeon Jung. In the images, both girls are smiling brightly and posing for the camera, dressed in their stage outfits of that day's episode of 'Inkigayo.'

Prior to the post, she had shared photos with a number of the other artists performing on the SBS music show that day. However, she made an entirely separate post for Yeon Jung, captioning it playfully with, "You separately."

Meanwhile, Kim Se Jung, now a member of gugudan, is currently promoting her solo single "Tunnel," while Yoo Yeon Jung is promoting "As You Wish" with her current group Cosmic Girls.
